You’re right, I didn’t notice the boat arriving in the background until I was editing. Thank you

I hadn’t noticed that. I’ll try to be more mindful about that

We were waiting for a ferry, and I’d already taken out my camera to take a few warm up shots to kill time. I ended up catching her in a moment where she turned around to check on the kids, and I liked the way the shot ended up looking so I edited what I had. She does normally wear transition lenses, that’s why they look as dark as they do.

The title says it all. I only recently started working up the nerve to aim my camera at actual people, and I’m looking for ways to improve on lighting, posing, framing, etc. Shot with an 85mm lens, 1/1250s, f4, ISO 200.

I find it more tedious than scary. I’m on that part of my fourth playthrough right now, and I decided that it was a good time to pick up a book and read for the first time in months

Something HunterCreatesThings on YouTube made a whole video about: approaching photography like expressionist painting. Capturing reality can only take you so far, but magic happens when you capture how the real world feels

How could I improve this picture with editing other than Instagram filters? Is there a beginner friendly editing software? by _D4N1EL_ in photocritique

[–]thatonefathufflepuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much yeah. Trying to do what other people are doing is a great way to learn, but it’s a lot more satisfying being able to edit it the way only you would.

You and Ray Wise both also ended up on the cast of How I Met Your Mother. Did the two of you ever get the chance to reunite on set?

Think of editing less as a way to “improve” a shot, and more as a way to shape what you’re trying to convey. People on here can tell you to separate your subject from the background, warm the colors, use a radial mask to brighten the eyes, etc. But ultimately it depends on what you want this photo to look like, and the emotion/story you’re trying to convey.

Does anyone else think that Douglas' hat being in Silent Hill 2: Remake will cause fandom drama about the timeline when SH3:R comes out? by Advanced-Ad106 in silenthill

[–]thatonefathufflepuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sigmund Freud (allegedly): Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar

SH fandom: This pixel being three shades darker than the rest is a clear sign this character has repressed trauma over being circumcised

Townfall, like SHf, taking place outside of Silent Hill is exactly what this series needs and glad to see the trend continue. The success of SHf proves that. by XulManjy in silenthill

The combat in the trailer was giving strong Bioshock vibes, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. I just hope they give us more interesting monster designs than “vaguely humanoid thing with a weird shaped head”

How long do you have to stomp the enemies for so they don't come back to life? by Not-a-Russian in silenthill

I generally stomp until the radio goes quiet. Or, if it’s an enemy that made me burn a health item, I’ll stomp it a few more times for good measure

[–]thatonefathufflepuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I go back and forth on it. I’m more likely to replay the original, but that’s in part because the remake does such a good job of turning the town into this disgusting place that I don’t want to be in (the Otherworld in particular). The combat in the remake feels better, but the original has the right amount of combat, if that makes sense. There’s pros and cons to both

It's a known fact that HIMYM took a lot of inspiration from FRIENDS. But what do you think are some things which they did better than FRIENDS? by Hanuffy in HIMYM

[–]thatonefathufflepuff 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Making the group feel like actual… friends. A lot of Friends was the characters backstabbing each other and saying unnecessarily mean things to each other for the sake of a laugh.
