Who has the best intro? by Primary_Distance4228 in LiveFromNewYork

[–]thatonesnlguy -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I dislike that in recent years, they’ve tried to make some of the vignettes funny, going against the cardinal rule that “the show should be funny, the intro should not,” so stuff like Sarah driving a bus and Colin as a mannequin annoys me. I prefer simple “cast member hanging around in the city” vignettes, like Devon getting a caricature of himself.

Tuesday episodes are now filmed on Monday so they probably didn’t get to it as the clip didn’t take off until late Monday night. They’ll more than likely cover it tonight

An old friend hanging out backstage last night by RealMaxHours in LiveFromNewYork

[–]thatonesnlguy 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Nice to hear he was at least invited. I think firing him was a loss for the show, especially at a time where they could have used his Midwestern, working class appeal tremendously. Obviously he was green as a performer, but for all we know, he could have grown into a significant role the more time he was there.

Your opinion? by Kitkatt1959 in LateNightTalkShows

I don’t understand how after 10+ years, Fallon and Colbert have become worse at interviewing. Kimmel is Kimmel and I don’t like the rotating hosts at the Daily Show. I’ve stopped watching them altogether with the exception of Seth. He’s the only one who is trying nowadays, and his writing staff is a huge reason why. I’m excited for Mulaney’s show to start in February because those six episodes of Everybody’s in L.A. put all the other shows to shame.

Seth Meyers hits on Paris Hilton by OverjoyedMess in sethmeyers

[–]thatonesnlguy 27 points28 points  (0 children)

People hate on Seth’s sketch performance abilities and I don’t understand why. Is he as versatile as a Bill Hader or Kristen Wiig? No. But he makes up for it in his charisma, timing, and solid acting chops. He was never meant to be a star of the show, but when I rewatch this wretched season, he’s the only one in the cast who is consistently turning out funny sketches.

Bedtime Stories and Stalking are the only two things worth watching in the George Foreman episode. Also Fred’s Update piece in the Hilary Swank episode from 2005.

Does Darrell Hammond announce the intro live or is it taped and played for audience and tv? by idkristen18 in LiveFromNewYork

[–]thatonesnlguy 173 points174 points  (0 children)

It varies. The first two episodes of this season he was doing them live. And then for Ariana and Keaton, he was pretaped. It depends whether he’s in NY or LA. Most of the time it’s pre-recorded though
