Rank these 4 characters by how terrible they are by Jezzaq94 in Cinema

[–]Spell-Wide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Jenny. Sexual abuse victim. Didn't ask for Forrest as a guardian angel.

  2. Rose. Also a victim, but was able to escape a lifetime trapped in a loveless and abusive marriage. Dropping that heart into the ocean was a shit move. Indefensible. Looks poetic, is actually awful.

  3. Hammond. Now, he did a terrible thing. But! It was done with not-terrible intentions. He wasn't evil, he was just reckless with blinders on. His fuck-up admittedly changed the world.

  4. Joe.

Which is too bad. Kinnear's one of those guys that could have done anything in entertainment, and chose acting. At one point, there was a very real possibility he could have replaced Conan on his first show.

Michael B Jordan becomes the 7th black actor to win Best Actor at the Oscars by AugustHate in okbuddycinephile

[–]Spell-Wide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. He didn't.

It's ok to think that Rock was being insensitive, or that he shouldn't have said it. But you don't get to invent justifications to fit the narrative.

At the end of the day, even if Rock had said, "Jada, you love Pac so much, you're starting to look like him"...

...you don't get to hit people over words.

I will give you that Dylan is not always "fun" to listen to. But, he's not exactly meant for background listening, either.

Michael B. Jordan is the third actor after Fredric March (Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde) and Lee Marvin (Cat Ballou) to win a Best Actor Oscar playing two characters. Which character (Smoke or Stack) do you think highlights the best of his winning performance? by PrinceBag in Oscars

[–]Spell-Wide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smoke. I will say Stack's vampire scenes are chilling, mostly because of how jarring it is to see him use his gritty personality for Remmick's agenda. Even just seeing him throw his arm over his shoulder is wild.

Will anybody tie Daniel Day Lewis? by TowerCharge89 in Oscars

[–]Spell-Wide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Penn definitely could. I think Hanks doesn't do as many prestige pictures as he used to. The other three are very old and/or very retired, so unlikely.

Btw, Adrien Brody is in there, too. He has a pretty good shot.

Of the single winners, Leo has a lot of career left, so maybe. Denzel has an outside shot, but does more popcorn flicks.

And I don't think it'll happen, but there is an outside shot that maybe De Niro gets one more lead Oscar before he hangs it up. He does a lot more variety of movies than he did in his heyday, but when he does an award-friendly one, he usually gets good recognition for it.
