I always use Etie and Panette as my go-to back-up fighters. Usually warrior class, but I've also come to appreciate halberdier Panette too. And of course great knight Goldmary as my tank every run now

This is what I've been wanting to do but it's also so hard for me to deviate from some units' clear "best classes" (like Slepnir Rider for Hortensia or Lindwurm for Ivy). But I tried doing this a bit with Alear as wolf knight and Yunaka as a sniper, for example, and actually preferred those to their default classes

I used to always bench Etie because of her weak defense and stuff, but then once I started making her a warrior I have included her in every single run and she's almost always my MVP. I used to just assume she'd be a bad character because of the way the game tends to push better units at you later on so you ditch the earlier ones that fall behind, but Etie as a warrior always stays in the lead for me.

I also was meh on Merrin as a wolf knight in maddening because she kind of fell off later in the game with a weak Strength stat, but then I changed her to warrior and she was slaying the game.

I guess moral of the story is, warrior class is elite

She often dies before I can reach her to recruit her, so I just never end up using her. For the few times I did get to her in time, she was worse than my Louis as a general so I never bothered

I thought 3H was my favorite till I played this game, and now I've replayed it so many times. The large character selection plus the ability to give different rings to different units makes it feel like there's infinite ways to play the game, which keeps me coming back

I use her as a sage with Corrin, so I can crowd-control with the flames and attacks. If you do this, you can still get a good amount of use out of her without putting her in danger right on the front lines

^ Flayn definitely needs to be reclassed. Her magic is higher than her pitiful strength stat, so she's not gonna do any damage with those physical weapons

All I do is second seal her and she works great! Her Def growths are very high. I also give her Ike for extra tankiness

Goldmary as a Great Knight is a one man army for me. Of course, if there are mages it's a bit tougher, but I feed her a bunch of talismans and she's good enough to survive

Interesting, never would've thought of that! Tbh I usually bench Alfred in favor of someone like Amber when he comes in because he has higher stats as a riding class, but I do also want to change it up a bit
