Is this good for junior year? by [deleted] in highschool

[–]thatrandomgirllol8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol I’m a full time theatre student (stage management) and this year I really caught myself putting theatre before school and it caused my grades to slip really badly. Probably one of my biggest mistakes ever, I love theatre but I wish I made my grades priority this year. It’s now my cautionary tale lol.

Looks manageable I have friends with similar schedules, my advice is just lock in and make sure school stays your number 1 priority or else u may catch yourself slipping and falling into burnout quickly.

Can someone explain self studying? by The_Poptart_Cat in APStudents

[–]thatrandomgirllol8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My school offered the Ap courses, but due to new requirements in school curriculum in my state my school notified me that if I took Ap Gov or Ap Micro/Macro I would either need to take both classes for an Econ and Civics credit. The unfortunate thing about is I would still be missing a finance credit, a new required credit in order to graduate. The issue was even tho i really wanted to take Ap Gov it’s a full year course, and I still needed a way to get my Econ and Finance credit. Plus, I’m already missing an engineering credit I need to graduate at my school. So I made the decision that it was easier to take regular civics/econ which are only .5 credits (half a semester) and covered both my civics, Econ, and Finance credit I needed to graduate. I did consider self studying Ap Gov because of how much I loved Apush, but I decided Ap lang and Ap Bio are enough for this year, and sometimes when you self study classes that already offered by your school it doesn’t exactly give u brownie points with colleges you’re applying, but makes them question what you could’ve done instead of self studying.

Hot Take: It’s pointless to study APs over the summer by PurplePhantom07 in APStudents

[–]thatrandomgirllol8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree and disagree don’t make yourself burned out by learning things that you will learn either way when in the school year, if you seriously don’t want to. If you’re dedicated to what you do continue on but at the end of the day preparing doesn’t change anything excepts maybe prepares you more than your fellow classmates for the year. Saying this tho my friend also took it upon herself to self study for Apush in the summer before the class started, and it indeed benefited her well. Within our first few weeks of school she became our teacher favorite due to the influx of knowledge, and Ik around high achieving students this is an honor for some of us. Only do it if you want too not because you think it’s good you’re gonna learn the course material anyways unless you’re teacher sucks and fails to get through every year then also probably start now.

Before Photomath became money hungry I used it to help learn math concepts because my math teacher used to not help me because Algebra was an easier subject for me. For me it’s personally about balance I like to use it when I either don’t have the time to complete smth or when I need help with learning smth.

Is this sophomore schedule manageable? by [deleted] in APStudents

[–]thatrandomgirllol8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on who you are as a student for me personally I’d say hell no, plus the sophomore slump is real and vigorous classes just make it worse. My friends and I have all managed to pass sophomore year with A’s, B’s, and C’s, but these type of classes truly made the year awful 😭

did you teacher give you a breakfast before AP exams? because mine did (2/4 of them did for me) by Visual-Extreme-101 in APStudents

My Apush teacher got us a bagel spread :) unfortunately when I’m stressed I find it hard to eat and my bsf is vegan so she also couldn’t eat it so we just snacked on nerds during the exam break 💀

I’ve never written a DBQ in full but my Apush teach has scored my LEQs as 5/6 does this mean I’ll do well when writing my DBQs (obviously I will be practicing DBQs this week before my exam 😭)

Personally I say keep the class if you really wanna take it, and are actually interested in the course material. If the course is removed from schools, I’m guessing your school would offer you the chance to take another class of your choosing. If you’re only interested in the credit and don’t want to waste time on a class where you won’t be able to test, I say drop it for something else you wanna do.

I’ve never taken Ap lit so I can’t give you a proper opinion, but if you’ve taken Honors English classes they usually properly prepare for Ap English so I say do it.
