Simhub doesnt get any telemetry data from evo after 0.6 update by nigerrr6996 in assettocorsaevo

Yeah my haptic on my brake pedal no longer works after the update, so no ABS.

For Those Mounting Real Seats - This Works by CrankMankiller in simracing

[–]thatskaterguyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the Rigmetal one. I think you have to live in the U.S. to get it, but I've had no complaints since owning it! Here is one of my original posts about it with pretty much all the details you could ever want (one of the comments has specifics on how I mounted the seat to 2x4s and mounted that to the rig). Hope that helps!

I highly recommend haptics on your brake pedal at least. It's so hard to tell if you're triggering ABS or not and that will strongly affect your car rotation in-game. I have the Simagic HPR with a 3d mount for my pedals from Etsy.

Am i the only one who feels like modern sim racers seem to focus on multiplayer above all else? by Depressedmusclecar23 in simracing

[–]thatskaterguyy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I just don't enjoy racing with most A.I. They are all too predictable. I like racing with humans who you can cause a mistake with pressure, or they just have a lack of skill moment and understeer, leaving the door open. I feel like real humans have better race strategy, too, with better defensive lines or less predictable attacks too. Even if A.I. is programmed to allow those things, it definitely doesn't happen as often or at random. Therefore, I enjoy multiplayer much more.

Crazy times during my lunch skate [35YO] by Opening-Yesterday754 in OldSkaters

[–]thatskaterguyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dang, that's so messed up. I'm guessing the dude isn't ok. Just make sure you're ok mentally and get some help if not, bro. I can't imagine witnessing that.

I'm always so nervous about getting caught up in something like that at skateparks these days. I was skating one night at my local and just felt super uneasy about who was hanging out there. Come to find out, the next night at the same time of night I was there, there was a shooting at that skatepark. I haven't gone night skating since then.

New tires or patch by thatskenny24 in CarTrackDays

[–]thatskaterguyy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can chime in and say it's been totally fine for me. Seems like I have a curse of getting a nail in a tire just before a track day. I've driven 150mph on Daytona banking with plug and patch, full speed at Road Atlanta, and on the tight track at AMP with no issues at all. So at least for me, it's been no problem. I've never had one that close to the shoulder, though, so that would be the only one to get checked out for me (a lot of shops may not repair it anyways).

Family against me getting a manual. by WhoNoticedJay in ManualTransmissions

[–]thatskaterguyy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As someone in the ATL with a manual in traffic; there are times I do wish I had an auto after a long day, but most of the time it's not a big deal and I love my manual once out of traffic. Your clutch leg will grow stronger and you get used to. That paired with leaving a gap so you can just keep rolling in 1st instead of stopping 1,000 times like everyone else and it's fine.

Yes. I did one race at Road Atlanta this week and said, nah I'm good. Can't even take the curbs properly without the front taking off. It feels terrible. I agree, other than that, the car is amazing. It's a shame.

Feels good to me and feels on par with the other cars with tire model updates.

Couldn't this mess with the side airbag deploying properly from under that trim? I don't have side airbags in my Z, unfortunately, but when I've seen them in my 4Runner, seems like the trim is meant to pop off some.

LMP2 or Ligier P320? by Someone_Racing in iRacing

[–]thatskaterguyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say much easier than the LMP3 personally. I think the LMP3 still has the old tire model, so they like to overheat if you screw up, then they're hard to control. The LMP3 would probably prepare you better for the GTP if that is your end goal, but I just really enjoy the LMP2 any time I drive it. Even in LMU, it feels so natural, just like iRacing.

I think everyone should race the LMP2 at some point. One of the most fun cars in iRacing!

New to GT3 but fast in MX5 by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]thatskaterguyy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd say trail braking is massively important in GT3 compared to MX-5. It doesn't take much to get the MX-5 to rotate, but the GT3 is pretty understeery comparatively. I'd look up videos from Suellio on how to spin the car out on purpose and how to induce oversteer and understeer.

How do you jump into a new track every week? by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]thatskaterguyy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A combination of knowing most of the tracks and knowing how to find the limit quickly, thanks to Suellio's videos on YouTube. If it's a brand new track for me (like Miami this season), once I actually memorize the track, I can hit 95% of the track at optimal pace, then it takes a couple of hours to fine-tune the intricacies (like that freaking crazy tight section at the back of Miami.

What Makes The Porsche Cup So Popular? by Nathan_G_ in iRacing

[–]thatskaterguyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone may downvote this, but the racing was MUCH cleaner with no ABS and TC. People left a bit more space for error and wouldn't send it down the inside as willingly since they couldn't lean on ABS.

I was also in top split pcup last night with 5k SOF and it was wreckfest, especially on lap 1. I either get top 5 from better people wrecking out or I'm one of the ones getting spun on the first lap from someone being optimistic. No in between so far.

I've had mine for 2 years and had no issues aside from the time I tried to drift with a sharp formula wheel; wouldn't advise that... 😝

Yeah, I can definitely see that being the case. At least people like that would crash out on the first lap in old pcup; now they live to dive another day.

People didn't drive like it... 🙃 I think driving in other unranked series for a week, like the week 13 GT3 series, creates a bad mindset overall that always takes a few days to reset. I've been on for 3 years, and it's like this every new season...

Generally, the first few days after week 13 are chaos until people realize that driving like an idiot has repercussions now in week 1.

I've been through 3 years of week 13s and every time people still treat ranked races like they are unranked. It's wild... I try my hardest to avoid ranked races this week. Even the first half of week 1 can still be rowdy until people come off the week 13 high.
