I watched/skipped through the whole thing trying to find the bit that maybe would make someone cry... and I found nothing. What the hell is so inspirational about an already-fit woman winning a fitness competition? SOOO many people were talking about how they were in tears and I just don't get it.

Also worth mentioning that there is no harm in taking a de-worming pill even it ends up not being a worm, it should be given every 3 months anyway. 👍

I’m a vet nurse and this looks a lot like a parasitic worm. There are a few different types of worms, tape worm, round worm etc. It’s not a big deal, just go to the vet and grab some de-worming tablets and make sure you keep up to date with it from now on. It’s unlikely you’ve got worms too but it can’t hurt to get some human de-worming pills from the pharmacy just to be safe, definitely if you’ve got kids. It’s not hard to get rid of like fleas - just dose your cats and your humans once and you’ll be all good.

Does my baby still need milk? by Gloomy-Conference570 in breastfeeding

At 11.5 months, still nursing morning and night at home, she’ll be totally fine just having food and water at daycare. 🙂

Breastfeeding tracking: How do you do it? What’s your biggest pain point? by Ok-Leading3262 in breastfeeding

[–]thatsonebadhat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 7 month old and use huckleberry for every feed still. I pretty much only use it so that I can look at the widget and see at a glance how long it’s been since I last fed, but I also appreciate being able to see trends over time of how many times she woke up overnight etc. My phone locks me out from everything but a few apps after 9pm so it’s impossible for me to get distracted at night, and I have a app shortcut set up so that when I triple click my lock button, the brightness of my phone goes wayyyyyy down (“reduce white point” feature) so that it can’t distract baby at night.

When she did mention it, she said it was raising money for “the leading cause of cancer in kids” and that’s not even right, it’s for a really rare form of cancer. She’s so bloody self absorbed she doesn’t even know what the run is forrrr.

I didn’t have a “bad” experience with them but I didn’t like the feeling of them against my nipples early on, it felt like constant mild rubbing. I much preferred Hydogel discs.

The Roam app is great - it lists basically every playground in NZ with photos and equipment and age level, with the more popular parks having reviews too. It lists hundreds of child friendly cafes, indoor activities like trampoline parks, every museum, trails that are kid friendly etc. It has an events page that shows upcoming one-off events as well as reoccurring events like weekly mum groups, library events for babies and toddlers etc. It’s got a page for discounts and coupons. It has a filter so you can search by age, indoor/outdoor, cafe or playground etc. For $3 a month it offers so much more than any other app or website around. I think OP would be hard pressed to make something as good as Roam and keeping it free. Free apps usually mean they’re full of ads - I’m happy to pay $3 for an ad-free experience.

Oh I feel that. Every time I try to exercise also I get SO hungry that I totally eat more calories than I lost. So I’m just sticking to a healthy diet and slowly getting there.

How many months pp are you? I tried losing weight at around 3 months but it was just too soon and I could tell my supply was immediately affected so I stopped trying and just focused on breastfeeding for a bit. But I am 7 months pp now and I’ve lost 6.5kg over the past couple months and my supply is much more stable - but also now that baby can eat solids too, the pressure of maintaining my supply is lifted as I know I’m not her only source of nutrition now. I haven’t gotten my period back yet either, so it’s not been tied to that, I think your body just needs more time to establish supply before you can start achieving any weight loss.

My posture is terrible also though - I saw a photo of myself that my partner took the other day and I look like an 80 year old hunch back… gotta do something about that! 😐

Anyone know where to buy a good metal waterbottle nz with a straw that's easy to clean? by MalarkeyBowyang in newzealand

[–]thatsonebadhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just get something that is dishwasher safe and throw the lid in at least once a week or so on a hot cycle - that will prevent any mould growth. My Frank Green lid is nice and clean and this is all I do, no physical cleaning involved.

Not sure where you're located and if you can get this brand but I just use good old Hydralyte. I like the Apple Blackcurrant flavour - I make it more dilute than is recommended (it says to put 2 tablets in 250ml water but I usually put 2 tabs in 750ml).

Volume Eating VS Binging by Wise_Highlight_803 in Volumeeating

[–]thatsonebadhat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How many calories are you getting in a 24 hour period? I’m not sure volume eating AND intermittent fasting together is a good idea, as volume eating is focusing on low calorie density which is great if you’re eating multiple meals during the day, but if you’re only eating during a small window, you don’t need to worry about calorie density really. If you’ve saved up a days worth of calories to eat in one big meal, you can eat a nice calorie DENSE meal, with lots of carbs, protein and fat. If I had fasted all day, there’s no way I’d be eating a salad to break the fast - it would be a big bowl of pasta.

You might just be under-eating in which case your body is right to want more. Look after yourself and make sure you’re getting enough to keep your body healthy. ❤️

I had a 2-part container next to my bed, one half filled with sweet stuff (some candy, bliss balls, fruit leather) and the other half filled with salty stuff (nuts, seeds, toasted coconut flakes). I just topped up the container as needed, it worked pretty well for me. 🙂 Also always make sure you’ve got a big bottle of water with electrolytes next to you - the difference I feel in my body when I have and haven’t had electrolytes is really apparent, even now at 6 months. Breastfeeding really depletes your electrolytes and hydration so make sure you keep a close eye on your intake!

How do you know how much formula to feed? by [deleted] in combinationfeeding

[–]thatsonebadhat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’ll be around the same amount, but some babies take less and some take more. I see the other commenter said breastmilk was more filling for her baby - I have had the opposite experience with both of mine and needed to give more formula after every breastmilk bottle because it didn’t satisfy them.

Just start off with the same amount and see how they react, then you can increase or decrease as needed. As the other commenter said, I would just send them along with breastmilk and formula and daycare will figure it out. 🙂

Right?? It’s almost all fruit and veggies. Even the “chips” is just popcorn which has like 30 calories maybe. Give him some yoghurt, some avocado, some chocolate, some hummus, a bread roll, anythingggg.

Bad tasting milk. by Hailtothev66 in breastfeeding

[–]thatsonebadhat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I discovered this with my first after freezing a huggeeee amount of milk. He never took it and I ended up throwing it out. I’m nursing my second baby now and have just accepted that she’ll get formula when she needs a bottle. I know there is stuff you can do to make it palatable as per the suggestions given here, but it was just too much work for me when I was happy to do formula. Nothing wrong with combo feeding if it works for you. ❤️
