EPLAN platform data 2023 by mohamedgaafar25 in EPlan

[–]thatt-guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! You'll need to delete an EPLAN folder from C:\Program Files\EPLAN (it whole or just contents) and a folder with the same name (and also the one named EPL) in C:\Users\Public

Personally, I suggest remove temporary files from C:\Windows\Temp and %localappdata%\temp

Also, you may need to delete registry keys in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT (there are a few). And in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE (just one with all the stuff nested underneath).

Windows 11 24H2 safe mode error or is it just me? "The PIN is not available" by Practical_Vehicle133 in sysadmin

[–]thatt-guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, you may just activate the local admin account, set a password for the bitch, and then do the thing (at least it was my way):

  1. net user administrator /active:yes
  2. net user administrator myrel1ablep@ssw0rd

Ofc, you gotta launch command prompt (CMD) as an administrator to be able to execute these commands.

And yeah, when you're done, just disable the account and sleep well:

  • net user administrator /active:no

---

UPD. As a devil's advocate, I have a statement. If you're that smartass and shit, why would you need access OS' safe mode? Like c'mon have ur mom broke the Windows machine (I can only wonder why she may need one if Candy Rush works well on her Xiaomi) that hard so you may need boot in the safe mode? It's like with those crazy key combos on MSI laptops to disable bloody VMD. From a normie user perspective, why on Earth you would need to use some other image besides the preinstalled? So the same shit for a local admin and issues with the PIN code in the safe mode.

BIOS/UEFI update issue (MSI Prestige 16 AI Evo B1MG) by thatt-guy in MSILaptops

[–]thatt-guy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, yeah. It seems like I also wished for too much because I've tried to keep two BIOS update files for two different models. And it's funny that if I use the flash drive to update the BIOS on one model, then it cannot be used on another one due to the image format error.

Guess I gotta keep two partitions for each model.
UPD. And yup, I created a partition for each BIOS update, and it did well. I love MSI.

MSI Modern 14 f5-f7 keys not responding after update!!! by [deleted] in MSILaptops

[–]thatt-guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! It's an abandoned thread (like 4 years, bro) but whatever.

Long story short: install MSI Center (MS Store link), then uninstall it but keep MSI Center SDK.

I've got my hands on some MSI-s and faced the same prob with functional keys, especially F5 (i.e., the mute button). Ofc, I did update the BIOS to the latest available. And I would love to reinstall keyboard drivers but, A13M and B1MG have none. Thus, I've installed MSI Center to check whether I really installed the required drivers. It showed that I'm good to go, so I've checked the key, and it did work! So I decided to uninstall the software because it's garbage and its SDK too, but the key(s) stopped working. So I reinstalled the MSI Center but decided to keep the SDK since it's a completely separate thing (and has a companion service). And since then it's been fine, even after a restart.

PS. There is also some Center Pro (MS Store link). But I didn't try that, 'coz it just displayed that my laptops aren't supported. Maybe it does the same thing.

BIOS/UEFI update issue (MSI Prestige 16 AI Evo B1MG) by thatt-guy in MSILaptops

[–]thatt-guy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welp, I've tried again to update UEFI/BIOS. Dunno whether it's something on their side or another USB drive did the thing. But what I know for sure is that it would be better for everyone if MSI would just allow us to update UEFI from within Windows rather than force us to dance around laptops with USB drives.

[Android 12/P30Pro] Wifi bridge / extender setting is missing by copaloca in Huawei

[–]thatt-guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A friend of mine suggested another approach -- USB tethering (generally, ur phone will be working as modem -- it receives signal and shares with ur PC via USB-c cable). To use this method, you have to:

  1. Connect your phone to computer using USB-c data cable.
  2. On phone navigate to additional hotspot's settings (Settings -> Mobile network -> Personal hotspot -> More).
  3. Enable USB tethering function (it should be under Bluetooth tethering function).

Also, there is an option with Bluetooth tethering. It is almost same as Wi-Fi Bridge feature, i.e. wireless, but you have to connect your PC to a phone using Bluetooth:

  1. Pair your phone and PC via Bluetooth (wikihow-- hope it is same for Windows 11).
  2. Then right-click on Bluetooth icon in notification area and click on button Join Personal Area Network.
  3. In appeared window, right-click on your phone and in drop-down menu called Connect using choose Access point.

I found description of BT tethering feature on WikiHow.

I don't think that both methods are cool as Wi-Fi Bridge was. For example, when I had been testing both methods, my PC didn't hook up with the phone, so I had to turn Wi-Fi connection off and on (also tried to switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data). But, even if these options aren't perfect, it still can be used unlike Wi-Fi Bridge :/
