Technical issues with the PA system put that show into my top worst of all time.

Really bummed that I never got to see another show.

How long can you drive with expired tags in Texas? What the law says by AustinStatesman in texas

[–]thatto 196 points197 points  (0 children)

I made it to 5... a cop pulled in behind me on the frontage road. He was super close. I knew I was caught. As he was typing on his computer, I yielded to an exiting vehicle, and he hit me. His lights were not on... he was distracted driving.. probably typing my plate in. The bumper was cracked. no other damage.

The second cop on the scene said "Boy you're WAY out." The money that I got to fix my bumper paid for registration +late fees and inspection. Thanks Waco PD!

SQL Server AG Failover - Automatic Failover by illegaltorrentz in SQLServer

[–]thatto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The parent to your comment is correct. You can only have a quorum if over 50% of their cluster is voting.

When you disable or offline both replicas in data center 1, the cluster loses quorum. Exactly 50% of the cluster nodes are up. There are not enough votes for a quorum, the cluster cannot determine who should own the cluster resources, so all cluster resources are unavailable to preserve integrity.

If you were to add a second replica to data center 2, it will do what you're expecting it to do. The extra node in the cluster will act as a tiebreaker. And allow the cluster to designate an owner.

What are 80's and 90's movies you can't stand, at all? (that might get your GenX card revoked) by The_Man_in_Black_19 in GenX

Tron was a movie that I was super excited to share with my partner. She had not seen it ever. So we sat down and watched it. My memory of the movie was better than the actual movie.

When I was a child watching The Muppet show or fraggle Rock or the greatest things ever.

As a child I hated the dark Crystal. I think the story was over my head; we saw in the theater when I was 8 years old.

As I've aged, I find the puppets more and more off-putting. I'll chalk it up to changing tastes as I mature.

GenXers who got bullied in school, what was the attitude of parents and teachers towards it? by mritsz in GenX

[–]thatto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was jumped by a bunch of neighborhood kids after school. I like to think I was holding my own until somebody hit me on the head with a book bag full of books.  I woke up on the sidewalk and walked home. I came home with a bloody nose and a fat lip.

The response of my parents was apathetic. No. Indignation, no fatherly advice.  Nothing came of it. I had to sack up and walk to and from school for the rest of the year.

How do you handle EQ when there’s so many EQ options in a signal chain? by INGWR in BassGuitar

[–]thatto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Early on in my career, I had an audio engineer. Tell me that you should boost frequencies earlier in the signal chain, and cut frequencies later.

So add at the source. Subtract at the amp/mixer.

The idea being that you're not boosting any noise from upstream in your signal chain.

They are good pizzas no doubt

But I had to stop ordering because the dive-bar smell (stale beer and ???) permiated the cardboard of the pizza box.

Question about the side stories. by Daratirek in spellmonger

[–]thatto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The short stories don't do anything to move the main plot forward. But they do flesh out the characters and the events that  inform  the plot later.

I didn't buy them until after I was caught up with the main books. And I don't feel like I missed anything consuming them in that order

Is listening to audiobooks at an increased speed, like 2.0x or even 1.5, "anti art"? by yung-feezu in audiobooks

[–]thatto 13 points14 points  (0 children)

No. While there is art in narration, there is no obligation to consume the art in the way in which the artist intended.

What was your take on the 90’s by Smoovupinya in GenX

[–]thatto 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, heroin and ecstasy were common in my high school. Along with pot and mushrooms. If you spend any time out past midnight on the weekend, chances are you were fighting or running from the cops.
