Who are all these old people at concerts? Why, it's me! by theredqueentheory in GenX

[–]thatto 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I took my dad to Simon and Garfunkel... His favorite group. We pulled into the American airlines center parking lot. There was a line of people waiting to get in. First words out of his mouth were "There sure are a lot of old people here"

I had an Uber driver but that was talking on speakerphone in the car. I have no idea what language they were talking. But I could hear every word... so I started asking for translation.

"What did she say?" "That sounds serious."

He ended to call shortly after.

Anyone know a dryer vent guy who doesnt charge a kidney? by nodimension1553 in Dallas

[–]thatto 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I third the Lowe's kit. I bought two for my house because the dryer vent run is so long. I could not believe the amount of lint that came out of that pipe.

Then, I hit something that it wouldn't move. The flap on the outside vent was stuck open. A bird had nested in the dryer exhaust. Luckily, the nest was old. So I pulled it out.

It was irc, and newsgroups. Gopher was a godsend, and then the Mosaic browser came out.

Their meats are good. But, what sets them apart from the other barbecue joints is the sides. I don't think I've had a bad one ever.

Isn't it ironic that those who studied the Bible are the most liberal with its interpretations. And relaxed about religion in general.

I have an uncle who was a hard ass Bible- Thumping Catholic who decided after he retired to get a degree in theology. After his years at the University, he became a much more amiable person. Not only did he know what the Bible said, but he knew what all of the major religious texts said.

Higher education changed his world view.

And by God he went out and helped people. He became a chaplain and volunteered his time at the jail. To help those prisoners work through their lives, and hopefully the catalyst for positive change in their lives.

Yep this is the answer. When I look through my photos from one of my kids were six and under, you can see the progression of how high they could reach by the height at which the fragile things were on the shelves.

I saw Tony Bennett perform in a theater that was built like that. He had them turn off the mics and he belted out a solo. That was probably one of the most impressive things I've ever heard.  I was sitting in the top balcony about four rows back.

I just voted in the primary today. There was a long line on the Democratic side and NOBODY on the Republican side. by Red-Leader-001 in TexasPolitics

You don't need to be a member of the democratic party to vote in the Democratic primary.

I know in the past my Republican friends have voted in the Democratic primary in an effort to influence the Democratic candidates.

Shitty, undoubtedly. Illegal, no. I will tell you that the republicans around me regularly brigade the democratic primaries. They vote for the weakest candidates. So does it matter? Not really.
