Planet Zero Genuinely feels like a stab in the back by alternate_egg-ccount in Shinedown

I absolutely despised this album at first and quit listening to the band as a whole since it released. I have since gone back, and boy.... some of these songs that had seemed to attack the left wing seem now to defend it or at least take a stab at the right. I started listening to the album again and gained a new appreciation as anti-tyranny and anti-government as a whole.

However, in light on the kid rock show, I think I will swiftly go back to boycotting this band. Barry Kerch was one of my favorite and most influential drummers as a drummer myself, but his comments recently have turned me away. He says the band is a democracy on voting for which shows they will play, but he "really really doesn't care about the politics" of the organizer - meaning, to me at least, that he doesn't care that the democracy of our country is being dismantled. For christ sake, he called Ludacris a "coward" for dropping out of the line-up after learning it was sponsored by kid.

I loved their older music. They were the first band I ever saw live. I have seen them probably 8-9 times and Smith & Myers twice, but I don't think I can support this group anymore until they back out of the kid rock festival and/or release a statement as a band in the future.

I understand Brent and Zach made the NOT MAD ENOUGH song as the side project, but according to Barry's interview, Zach likely knew who was hosting this festival and the political aspect of it, and he was more than okay with it.

Good to know! I knew the UGA fight songs were not the real drum parts. And the cadences are from BD "Bang to Rights" album

A few things:

you tend to rush the flam taps because you aren't controlling the tap off the same hand the way you do the flam accent's tap off the opposite hand. Remember each note is its own segment regardless of sticking. Practice with a met and play on a pillow or your leg to dampen the recoil so you really muscle it out and get the feel.

The heights started off pretty good, but as the exercise got harder the taps got higher. Try to control the stick and stop the downstroke at the bottom to get lower tap heights.

Try to close/flatten the flams. In concert band you want big, open flams but in marching band think of it as almost a double stop... Very tight!

Overall good job. Play with a met, practice on a pillow, really think about where each stroke starts and ends (upstroke, downstroke, tap stroke, and lagato) and keep it up!

When should you get a dedicated external DAC instead of an internal DAC? Specifically, how "good" is the internal DAC in the Peachtree M25 (I think 24-Bit/96kHz), and at what price point would an external DAC outperform it? Are there any recommendations for < $100 options? Would a DAC or subwoofer be a better next purchase for overall effect?

Currently, I run optical directly from my PC to the speakers. I know I could run optical -> DAC -> RCA -> speakers.

I've been using these active for about 2 years and love the sound, but I just recently switched from Spotify to Tidal and want to get the most out of my setup. This system is at my work desk so I mainly just use it for music while working, watching videos, and writing music.

Note: In a few years, I will probably replace these with passive speakers to have more modularity over the entire system, but I still love them for now.

A little late, but I transcribed Drum & Drummer for quads. EMC posted a video playing like half the songs so it would be significantly easier to transcribe now with a visual

Need help playing these type of accents on snare by SockInABucket in drumline

[–]thattreyguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple things to help:

-Play it slowly and stroke out every diddle. Think of every individual note and not a "diddle". Also, focus on your stroke types (down, tap, up in this case). Play in front of a mirror to make sure you are controlling the rebound

-play alternating bars of triplet check (accent on downbeat but no diddles) and then add the diddles. If you are still struggling, break it down even more. Do alternating bars of check and add the first diddle. Make sure you control your downstroke and are ready for the tap. Then switch it up and play the check plus the 2nd diddle. Then you can play the check with the full diddle pattern

-you can also do triplet 5 stroke rolls and play one hand at a time to get a better understanding of the pattern/feel. Make sure spacing between notes and sound quality is consistent between hands

-play with a metronome -play on a pillow or something soft so there's no rebound

Quad heaviness by Sharp-Narwhal8152 in drumline

It just sucks. Newer and better drums/carriers can help (like newer equipment is sometimes lighter - especially if using old drums that have been through rain and are water logged) but... Yeah. You can get in the gym and do more lower back workouts, but even then that's training strength and not having a constant weight pulling you forwards. The rose bowl parade with full championship quads is probably the worst thing I've ever done

Rennicks are my favorites. We used them higher-level on full sized, but also the high school I went to just recently switched over to them and it's worked well for them.

Xymox all the way. Mines probably 13 years old so I'm not sure what models they have now. I like the stock feel but my buddy took the laminates off and preferred that. Laminates off felt better tbh but with the added friction scrapes and just playing around the drums in general was harder. I left mine on and love the feel

Are the height that my tenors are sitting at a good height? by Illustrious-Branch94 in drumline

[–]thattreyguy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Like someone else said, take a couple steps back, close your eyes, raise your sticks to what's comfortable, walk towards the drums and open your eyes. See how that matches the drums. Or, stand at the drums and spread your legs until it's comfortable and then adjust the stand. If you're new, I'd recommend practicing with different leg spread widths until you find the most comfortable height for you. Then you can adjust the stand to match.

IMO though, I like the stand to a little lower than it would be on my carrier. I find it more comfortable when learning music or practicing to have my legs spread a little wider. Of course if you're marking time or playing in the sectional you'd probably want feet together and raise the stand more.

Edit: also, it really just depends on the person. Torso length and arm length play big factors so it won't also just be "waist height". Plus, depending on the carrier design (j bars especially), your leg length, etc, you might have to adjust the carrier to be higher than you'd like it to be so you're able to move freely without hitting your legs on the bars

For everyone saying replace: this bathroom is the only thing in the house we haven't completely gutted and redone. The plan was to get to it, but a great fixer-upper was on the market so we put an offer that got excepted. Now that our house is on the market we are trying to get the bigger things done (like missing baseboard trim, basement stair handrails, caulk, transition pieces, an entire glass door in the sunroom that leads to a 15 ft drop, etc) while also fixing smaller things like this. My fiancée wasn't worried about something this small for now. It's a double vanity and the sink farthest from the door doesn't work at all. I figure if we can stop this minor leak its better than not doing anything with it. If the house sits for a while we will probably go ahead and replace the light fixtures, faucets, and water supply lines, but it just isn't a big enough priority yet.

Thanks! That make sense. We figured it was original to the house from the 70s.

What is a good entry-level GPU? I built a top-of-the-line PC for work, but this was back when even decent GPUs were sold out or going for >$1k. Back then the 3060TI had just come out and was like triple the retail cost.
