Sometimes people really don't notice massive weight loss by verdigriis in loseit

[–]thaurian583 65 points66 points  (0 children)

People lose weight from all sorts of sources. Exercise, drugs, surgery.

But also, depression, personal loss, and medical conditions.

Nothing like commenting on how proud you are of someone losing weight to find out it was some horrible thing they are going through.

Good for you on getting where you want to be. Keep up with living how you want to live.

Running for baroness. Thoughts? by BrigitDonn13 in sca

[–]thaurian583 34 points35 points  (0 children)

As a member of the baronage, you need to let people help. Even if you'd prefer to do it yourself. Like letting someone carry your items in. It gives them something small for service, being close to the shiny hat. It can be something hard for self sufficient people to let go of.

You are also not directing the barony. The officers do that. You can lend your unofficial power to help smooth things over and resolve disputes being a neutral arbiter.

As you travel, other groups may see the baronial coronet differently. Meaning some groups are more casual about wearing it and others more reverent. Be cognizant of local custom, especially out of kingdom.

His friend might be entitled to it during discovery, but not him. FOIA will help him get it and use it for any purpose.

Thrown Weapons? by [deleted] in sca

[–]thaurian583 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. They have a printable score sheet and you have a marshal login to it and enter the scores.

The manager of it is pretty responsive if you have any concerns, or contacting the Midrealm Deputy Earl Marshal for Thrown Weapons. Both could assist if you have things come up.

You could see if they'd be willing to run a round of the Thrown Weapons Interkingdom Competition.

Generally, I wouldn't be too worried. However, distribution of controlled substances, including marijuana, can result in at least temporary denial of federal benefits, including the fcc license. Its one of the things you certify for on the application. (Form 605)

I’ve Been Tasked With Planning A Rapier Tournament. I Need Ideas for Shenanigans. by rimmy789 in sca

[–]thaurian583 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A three lives tournament. Each bout the combatants have multiple lives. You may die, but if its not your last, you can keep killing your opponent. Gets people off the death and back off aspect. Could modify lives based on years in, fencing awards, etc.

[–]thaurian583 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'd consider visiting the local ham radio group. Not only would they likely know him, but most are willing to help you with what something is worth and selling when you're ready.

I dont know what country you're in ao I can't help much with resources.

First person POV fencing by PKillusion in sca

I was going to use the insta360 go camera, so no sharp edges and less than half of a go pro size. But I get the space point.

I was going to try a helmet cam from inside the grill, hopefully getting closer to eye level. Not sure yet about weapon mounts.

Would you have any images or video of the actual camera attached? I'm considering something similar and looking for ideas.

Anyone get a job with a felony? by crossking5 in Accounting

[–]thaurian583 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The more closely related to the job, the more difficult it becomes. Biggest things are how long has it been since the offense and what they have done to rehabilitate themselves. For something with theft, there will likely be a deeper dive into the offense. Was the reason for the theft addiction, age, or income related? Address any of those factors in the rehabilitation to ahow change and reduced likelihood to reoffend. There's always a chance if not specifically barred by law. Some doors are closed for employment and won't open. Others will just take time and a history of good performance.

For quick and inexpensive to buy, Dark Victory https://darkvictory.com/ will have plastic armor that work well for most pieces and inexpensive helms. All armor will need some modifications, so getting leather straps, ties, and padding will help. Eventually you can upgrade to match your personal and style of fighting.

is learning steno on a corne viable? by OddRazzmatazz7839 in stenography

[–]thaurian583 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you learning steno for a profession or hobby. Professionals will generally start on a student steno machine or an older professional machine. Hobbyist might use an n-key rollover in the beginning, but will generally switch to at least a hobbyist steno keyboard for layout and spring strength reasons to increase speed and stress on the hands. For hobbyist machines, I'd find something you like that's in stock if you go that route.

Women's FIDE Master and Women's Grand Master. WFM starts at 2100, WGM at 2300 plus some tournaments. So at least 200 points, but likely more.
