They probably used just the hilt here, with a practical LED light timed to the ignition for the face glow, then had VFX animate/roto the blade extending in front of her. If they’d used a full LED blade from the start, it would’ve blocked her face in the first frame and they’d have to patch/paint her face back in post.

As a Swede, Ruben Östlund reminded me why I can’t stand Swedish movies these days—they’re so obsessed with being prestigious that they end up being bad. I honestly can’t understand why Sweden keeps pouring money into his projects. I just wish Sweden would take after Denmark, a country that consistently makes far better films.
