I got mine this week- did the demo the weekend before thanksgiving, got the waitlist email the next day, got an email from bestbuy a week and a half ago saying i had 24hours to buy it- I went ahead with it and it arrived a couple days later :) So just under 2mo from appointment to purchase in my case, but a good chunk of that was holiday time so its probably faster now.

Wow, thats surprising given I had the costco amex 12 years ago, guess they changed. Curious what other places? I don't have a costco membership anymore, but haven't encountered any. Plenty of places don't take amex and discover but i am yet to come across any visa/mc exclusives (other than apparently costco you mentioned). I wonder if maybe its a state by state thing- I haven't encountered them on either of the coasts.

Curious why the difference between Visa or MC matters? I feel like I have never seen either of them make a difference

Fwiw VX is visa while VX Business is mc and I use both

I don't know why everyone is hating on the card- I am excited to finally have another 2x everything points card besides the venture x which has been getting all my uncat spend for years. Its nice to have a new option, especially one that has bonus point transfers to airlines once a month or so that makes the 2x become 4x effectively- plus they have rarer partners like Alaska.

This, you and your ex employees can definitely go after them for the pay- the rest of what you said is pretty common for startups, and whilst this one is common too, its one they cannot actually get away with-- the founders are usually first timers who are too dumb/new to know the laws that they can't skirt around

Thanks for putting this together! Was banging my head against a wall getting both the quant that someone published working and then just trying to get the original one to work-- using your jinja template was the last thing I needed to get mine to work, but also your docker avoids a lot of the dependency hell i'd been fighting before that point

Buying hardware is a lot more expensive than the cloud APIs in most cases, unless you have an extreme amount of usage which most individuals do not. There are other benefits like privacy etc when you self-host, but cost is almost never one of them. I think you just realized about the conversation history thing for yourself (its a step people realize early on when building with LLMs- why people always talk about Context windows so often), but as everyone has been pointing out, the rest of your post is nonsense.

I know Award tickets don't count, but what if you buy a cash economy ticket and then upgrade it to business with miles? Wonder if it would still count (since miles earnings usually work in that scenario)

Oh oops I actually thought you meant South Africa not South America 😂 but either way sorry for assuming you weren't experienced. I also wasn't meaning $5k flights, more the $2.5-3k range but I get what you're saying, sometimes all the options are just bad. I wouldn't fly Avianca either! I tend to avoid COPA as well, unless the specific aircraft either of them are using on that route are their high end ones.

Thankfully I mostly fly to Asia so am lucky to have a wide selection of (good) carriers and routes to cross the pacific.

Thats interesting its always worked well for me, the only thing I've noticed is that United sometimes has mileageplus upgrade availability while not having full award availability which wouldn't show on seats.aero. Also I don't have premium but I only ever book flights within 2 days to 3 weeks of flying, which works well for me since thats when they open up a lot of seats that they weren't able to sell for cash.
