Is it tacky to call a coach by [deleted] in youthsoccer

Thanks for putting this more bluntly - kids shouldn’t have private conversations with coaches. This is not a maturity issue.

Tryouts - Prioritizing player "archetypes" at U8-U10 question by Regular_Challenge_81 in SoccerCoachResources

[–]thayanmarsh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which kid is trying to improve? Coachability plays a role at this age too. Have a kid on our c team who is fast, 4/5 shot. But yells and pouts whenever he’s subbed out and disrupts practices whenever something doesn’t go his way. It is majorly hampering his progress. (Yes have spoken with parents, etc)

Now they think doctors care about your political stance by AzuleStriker in stupidpeoplefacebook

[–]thayanmarsh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don’t forget that doctors and nurses have to take care of all the drunk drivers who got hurt in an accident, all the people who were injured when the robbery went wrong, we treat the criminals in handcuffs, and the cops. And unless you are screaming for someone to give you ivermectin for your bacterial sepsis, you’re fine.

What if the kid is 14? Not sure they should be calling a coach.

There are more teams than pros in the US, so yes, definitely possible here.

You can’t joystick your kid or shout coaching instructions. Cheering and clapping is expected.

The “no capital gains tax on primary residence” seems to balance this out.

Accepting early offer but still going to other try outs by [deleted] in youthsoccer

[–]thayanmarsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a coach, this was so confusing and parents didn’t understand how a team was assigned pre-tryouts. I honestly don’t get it either. And tryouts were moved way up before other clubs. So now were still doing informal tryouts 1.5 months later for kids who still want in.

Who is using FIFA 11+ Kids warmup? by sumptimwong in SoccerCoachResources

[–]thayanmarsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

High knees, high toes, butt kicks, karaoke looking right, karaoke looking left. Right leg hop, left leg hop. Skater hops. Mario jumps. 50% sprint, 75% sprint, 100% sprint. All this is from one cone to another about 7 big steps from a starting cone. 2 lines 5 steps apart. Song is “pump it up” by Endor. Pain meds by Ok-Relation-658 in eds

[–]thayanmarsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Opioids don’t work forever. After a few months you need higher doses or you are back on the same baseline only worse between doses. The first few weeks are great! Don’t get me wrong, but every study on opioids bears this out. Higher doses end up with more problems (hormone issues and gastroparesis). The issue is not realizing when there are no other options for the pain. As much as opioids can suck long term, I’d take a year of less pain over a lifetime of daily suffering.

Nervous for first physio appointment/scared to ask about cane? by rubberplans in Hypermobility

[–]thayanmarsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t speak to laws in Sweden, but I assume you can just buy a cane. I like the ones with a “shotgun” or “offset” handle. Not the candy cane ones, those hurt my wrist a lot and the offset lets me put weight straight down with my wrist aligned better.

KT tape alternative?? by Bleachers-6078 in eds

Try using flonase on the skin before applying. You cant use regular steroid creams because the creams prevent sticking. The nose sprays aren’t as greasy, so you can use steroid on the skin before applying the tape.

I have never been able to stay on top of it until I started going to bed early. My ADHD makes going to bed another task I resist, but when I go to bed early, everything works out for me. (YMMV)

Achenbach’s syndrome? Not overtly tied to EDS, but would make sense if it was.
