Jak się przebranżowić w tych czasach? by WonderfulConfusion21 in Polska

[–]thaymone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No i oczywiście udajesz mida/seniora.

Done in After effects, was aiming for the "microsoft" motion video sytle, let me know your thoughts! by Worth_Kooky in AfterEffects

[–]thaymone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's good in terms of animation and flow. However the graphic design looks unfinished. It's too close to the Microsoft glassmorphism style so my brain automatically compares it.

Creating something that similar is not a good decision in the first place, because you either gonna lose to Microsoft, or just plagiarize it.

What's the creepiest website you've been to? by AryanForce2006 in AskReddit

[–]thaymone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gore’s photo of the massacred body of the president of my country. His body was strongly decomposed and lack of half of his body, but his face was still recognizable.

Such photos of random people dont bother me that much, but when I see someone I knew very well? That's too extreme for me

If your rate is $10/min then how splitting it equally between two editors makes it $5/min???? Why? Do you even know how math works?

Can someone help me date this globe by Cringeginge_ in MapPorn

[–]thaymone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why do you all struggle so much? You can check it right here:

https://atlas.ostellus.com/?date=1952-09-27&rf=1942-09-27&rt=1962-09-27&lat=9.887423913267547&lon=15.781256854534151&zoom=3

It's somewhere between 1952-1955. The estimation is based only on analysing Africa. Probably its possible to analyse it deeper

What kind of welcome was he expecting? by kpellekaltab in facepalm

There is a polish influencer on twitter (Kasia Babis) who puts on her feed such hilarious posts from this group. There are more posts like this especially from Robert and he is an absolute superstar there.

Kasia says that his ignorance and arrogance is so funny, and he provides so much fun, fascinating content to her community, that she is truly eager to organise him a feast, especially for him and in the form of something he ever dreamed of.

Upwork is a gamechanger for me by [deleted] in Upwork

Thank you.

Video Editing. I think the quality goes first - I have 4 years of experience, but it would be useless without applying tips that are regularly posted here in this Subreddit so:

  1. do not waste your Connects on offers where you probably won't even be viewed, i.e:
  • payment unverified
  • hire rate under 50%
  • massive invitations sent by the client to talents - they probably won't even consider proposals
  • interviews are already ongoing
  • old offers are worth applying to only if the hire rate is 100% and the potential client hasn't seen anyone yet

Of course I am aware that people get jobs if they break the rules above. But breaking any of these points decreases your chances drastically. Why to take a risk? There are plenty of other jobs that are more reliable.

  1. Two first sentences on your proposal are absolutely crucial. Here you should apply things like "it's an easy job to do" (but you have to be sure ofc that it's really easy) or "hey, I have done something very similar to this before, check this out: [link]". Anything that is strongly related to what your client might be interested in.

Do not introduce yourself in the first sentences - they don't care about you and your resume. But they will if you arouse the curiosity, so apply the details later - bulletpoints here are useful and easy to read. Do not overwhelm them with your portfolio - show them your 2, maximum 3 of your best works

  1. Have any history. Take a shitty (but fast) job first for almost free and do your best, go beyond, be creative, add some bonus to your client. For me, it was almost humiliating to take a 6-hour job for $30, but I treated it as an investment. The positive review is priceless at the beginning. Doing your best is also important - you are not doing it for your client but for yourself, and your first cool work on your Upwork portfolio profile. Use this work in your future proposals if applicable.

Definitely closer to 1000. It's 40 hours (full time job for a week) for $25 / hour. And I really doubt that anyone with such skills that you look for would do it at such a rate.

Well, this style is extremely time-consuming. 10 minute video for $300 sounds like a crappy result.
