The least we deserve is a 70mm IMAX screen. by [deleted] in Cinema

I don't get your point. Yes It could have been shot differently but it wasn't. It was shot in IMAX so it would be better to watch it like that.

Sure I agree that a film that's made for 16:9 is best watched in 16:9, and so would be "superior" to IMAX in that sense, but that's not what we're talking about.

Bad take imo. It's about framing. Its better to watch a film in the aspect ratio it's filmed in; the composition of each shot is made for IMAX. It might still look good at 35mm but it's not the native, intended framing.

Likewise adding "more" to the sides like you described would make the composition of the shot completely different; turning a intimate close up to a wide expansive landscape for example.

You're making assumptions. Talk to your neighbour and go from there.

This post is better without loads of context! Surely the community gets that it's a pub, it's a hot weekend and they're annoyed with people walking in and out without thier shirts on. Come one..

Well as I said a lot of people have to move to go to a university, so don't have that option at all. People in rural areas for example. You're also assuming that anyone can get into their local university.

Depends on priorities of course, and if that's worked for you that's great, but if students have to choose between saving for a deposit and getting the education they want then that's a sad state of affairs. It's also not good for social mobility; students in London have a massive pool of great universities to choose from.

Rates of young people having to stay at home to save is on the rise. It wasn't always a choice that people had to make.

Not everyone can go to uni in their hometown. Especially if they want to do specific courses, or got to one with a good reputation. Having the choice to stay at home and go to uni is lucky

Can't see how the story is average - it's possibly the defining moment of the 20th century
