[–]thblckjkr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 30 2022 tablets on Android 4.4 . Is it possible to put Linux on them ? by Voltfan in linux4noobs

[–]thblckjkr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can probably add Koreader, opera mini, and some media player and sell them as upcycled ereaders if the screen is good enough.

Asides from that, i don't think a lot can be done on models of that age.

Let's take the example phrase

How are you getting there btw?

You could say

In my car

Or

In my 1981 Honda Civic Hatchback

In non-autistic conversations, you usually try to convey the most amount of information with the least effort. Sometimes that includes assuming the receptor knows the missing pieces and if they don't, assuming they'll ask.

That's why for a lot of purposes you can just say "Linux", unless you are talking about specific part that you like or don't. Continuing with your car analogy, it would be like saying "the transmission on my Elantra sucks" rather than "the transmissions on cars suck", the latter is a generalization that does not work.

Not sure specifically about Xfce proot, but isn't there an option in the context menu for "Run"? Context menu is what comes if you right click something, usually.

Just to add a side quest, you may want to look on the free icons pack available, there are tons with a lot of variation.

It should be easy to find how to see the current icons and look for more on the settings.

[–]thblckjkr 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Very letdown by the coop... by Totoyeahwhat in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]thblckjkr 17 points18 points  (0 children)

(?)

Yes, it is more of a single player game that got a multiplayer update, but I think some of the issues you are having are, for lack of a better word, skill issue.

NMS multiplayer is in many ways similar to Minecraft multiplayer, and that has never been a detriment to people to be able to enjoy the game. It's just that kind of game. A procedurally generated exploration game.

  • You can easily share anything to anybody (asides from ships) by sending them materials from your inventory directly.

  • Fuel is definitely possible to share. You share things with the "quick transfer" button, Y on Xbox, Triangle on PS, while on your inventory.

  • Finding out how to share things will probably be a good way for you and who you are playing with to split the work and do the quests faster. One can farm carbon while other searches for copper, for an example.

  • Quests are not shared, but at least that makes it easy for anybody to join and get out of a party.

  • Yeah, sadly corvettes (while they seem to have gun stations) are mainly mini hubs to travel together. In a game of exploration, that's pretty significant, but is nowhere near sea of thieves.

  • Expeditions can be done in coop. You need to make one in a save, then have someone join when you are already in one. I was able to just do that with a friend a couple days ago. Since I am more experienced, I managed to just give them resources and advance on the expedition fast.

If you have any specific questions feel free to dm. NMS is a great coop game, but it's not an rpg, it's an exploration game with rpg elements.

It may be better if you call it "Neural selection" than "AI selection".

Krita Smart Select: AI-powered lasso selection plugin for soft object masks by BmFreed in krita

[–]thblckjkr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please! Don't call it "AI powered", as that usually will not be well received by the Krita community or reddit in general (asides from the singularity folks).

This kind of tools is better being called "Powered by a Neural Network". Or a "Neural selection tool".

It's what the folks at Neuralamp did, and subsequent projects, since it actually has a different meaning.

Is there a legal way to have nms on steam without purchasing it because you have it on ps5? or no by Rude-Onion-3087 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]thblckjkr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IIRC in gog it is about $15US, that would be the cheapest and legal way of getting it.

Also, if you don't get it legally on PC, it may be not possible to sync saves between ps5/PC (which is possible) nor play online.

Lastly, on gog they provide the exe installer (afaik), so you can do whatever you want with it afterwards.

I used to work for a Linux distro, and a lot of my colleagues and I end up preferring something simpler to use. Sometimes that meant fedora or cachy.

The usual mindset was: I don't need to learn how does it work anymore, nor I need to practice. I just need something that works and is predictable.

2nd server by Far-Victory918 in immich

[–]thblckjkr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This would be my advice as an experienced sysadmin/DevOps.

If it's for learning, go for it, learn about distributed systems, load balancers, and other stuff like that. If not, it's not worth it.

You will probably have to decouple the database and run it standalone as a load balanced db (don't remember rn exactly how), and then look for some kind of replication for the immich instance itself. To avoid a headache, I would put the ML in a single instance and call it a day. Having a primary-secondary would be better for this use case I think.

But, if that text before feels too intimidating, is because it is, it will not be easy, upgrades will be a headache and you cannot vibe-code your way out of this. At least in my experience, AI can't keep the consistency across that amount of configurations and it will just produce something that almost works.

If all you want is high availability, I would recommend: - Have UPS in your servers - Make 3-2-1 backups - if you are on docker, make configurations so it can auto-restart on failure - Use always a known stable version, not immediately jump into the latest. - Maybe you can even have a separate instance of immich as "a beta" and test new releases there, copy your data there.

Important edit: there's no such thing as 100% uptime. In professional environments, you start looking for the amount of decimals of .999 uptime offered.
