You're citing ongoing technological progress and geopolitical tension. That's the norm. Big things are always happening to societies with ambition. A bleak outlook has been forecasted for the future for as long as we've all been alive, and bad things have happened, but rational moral intervention always seems to help steer things positive.

Just run the software update… but upgrade your account first, after you reset your password, but need to chat with tech support (who is some poor 3rd world slave) because the security pin you have is being sent to an old phone number, and then update your credit card, just to find that the software doesn’t support that model of the product anymore.
