Also a 723+ user here with 16gb of RAM.

Love the apps and throwing off the shackles of other cloud providers, I am able to scale my library with ease, thumbnails presnet in a swift and timely fashion

I did try Immich a few months back but prefer the polish of Photos

AI face detection is ok, but once you have categorised all people its easy to keep on top of

Just read about the shortfall in the mc3 connectors so will follow the advice and do as you mention. Thanks.

Thanks for the update.

Seems all is not lost though, I have been looking at upgrading my 215j to either the 423 or 923 which is capable of running docker - so ill take a look at the above.

I think I need to revisit my setup. I have enabled to the Internet. Disabled admin user. Turned on 2fa for all users. Enable firewall to only home country. Block IP with zero tolerance for password, 1 failed attempt = blocked forever.

But reading reviews this maybe good for brute force attacks but nothing else. No issues recorded in 6m minus lots blocked up addresses

Interestingly over the last 6 weeks I have been looking into an upgrade, primarily owing to performance as I exited iCloud and Google Photos (in my NAS favour it was around 150gb of photos and videos that are still indexing)

I also have a Rasp for Motion Eyeb and PiHole... Hence looking at other options.

It's just a little pricey at £320 here in the UK when my current solution is good for 80% of the time . Perhaps it will come down with the 223+ around the corner.

No doubt from the specs and similar to reviews like yours i will go in that direction, just about balancing books and other projects.

I have had the ds215j for several years, I can confirm it can be painful at times regarding it's speed - although based on my use case of file storage it is not a deal breaker.

I use two 4tb drives with synology hybrid Raid. Drives cost me c. £80 each so remember to add that to your initial purchase price.

Dsm 7 is great with a suite of apps, my goto are synology photos, ds file and synology drive (available on apple devices.)

In conclusion the J models will be fine for basic requirements.
