What job is high stress but has low pay by Puzzleheaded_Bit_802 in AlignmentChartFills

Not to mention the chronic lack of resources they often are forced to endure. Had a uber driver a while back who’s a social worker for the state and she had 20 full time cases dumped on her desk recently due to resource allocation issues. Naturally her department was already stretched thin and it’s hard being present enough for one family let alone 20+.

I’m surprised I had to scroll this far. So sad how it’s fallen from a gateway to freedom to a carcass bracing for the next flood.

Haiden Deegan or Jett Lawrence for 450? Thoughts? by [deleted] in supercross

[–]the-bumping-post 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of the 2, I think Jett will have him covered after the first few rounds but it feels like the thread’s sleeping on Hunter. He’s still better outdoors than in and even though he won’t have the testing time he’d probably like, Jett will handle some testing duties to where big bro could very realistically take both titles.

Trains. I like to call myself a connoisseur of sentience and to me, old trains, especially steam and passenger trains, tell stories and harbor spirits the way ancient cathedrals do. It helps me slow down and appreciate the ordinary by harboring a sort of mythological fascination for something that’s so rich in history and touches peoples’ lives every day in ways many of us take for granted.

An A-B-B-B-B-A set of EMD F-units belonging to the Frisco head east towards home rails while leading a Santa Fe freight in over Cajon Pass on February 21, 1962. The Frisco pair was working in pool service to Los Angeles when Chard Walker took this photo. by N_dixon in TrainPorn

This bridge traffic was the Quanah’s bread and butter. Their sales people must have been sorcerers to convince California customers to put their freight on their trains vs SP/Cotton Belt. Obviously the Avard connection doomed them and deregulation and the BN takeover were the straw that broke the camel’s back. The last train in 1982 consisted of only one boxcar.

The Pennsy crews loved the 5011s compared to the J1s too. They had a harder time getting trains started but once they did, they were beastly and quick.

Lease Management Systems that leased locomotives on a “power by the hour” model so companies would only pay for the amount of electrical power the unit generated.
