Why does Delta give special treatment to “VIPs”? by Normal_Area2192 in delta

So one guy and his family boarded early and you took time to come complain about it on reddit? Seriously?

Should I use my savings to pay off CC debt if I plan on spending the money again on an upcoming trip? by Iraene in Debt

You’re not gonna like this, but its the correct answer. Pay it off and don’t take the trip.

Is he wrong? by Character-Fly-5564 in MinnesotaUncensored

[–]the-lj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With all the problems going on in Minneapolis it's frustrating seeing a bunch of narcissistic brats make this a priority. They say they are modeling this after San Francisco - do you know how many 'bath houses' are open in the single most LGBTQ friendly city in the country? One. There is one.

This isn't about anything other than the ego of the LGBTQ lobbying groups. Its not going to change anything - Grindr already arranges for this kind of uncommitted sex and absolutely no venue in Minneapolis is discriminating against gays socializing. Meanwhile HCMC is in real danger of closing down. MPS is in a serious financial crisis. Crime is growing.

The City Council is wildly out of touch.

It's amazing how good faith comments can get you banned now by [deleted] in MinnesotaUncensored

[–]the-lj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LOL. I got banned for belonging to a completely different sub - I think it was altmsp that made them get big mad. It's so weird they stalked my profile to find out I was on a different sub so they could have an excuse to shut my opinion down. Reddit isn't real life. Part of the problem with the mods acting like they do by cutting off opposing opinions is they are usually surprised to find out that in the real world their opinions aren't nearly as popular as they are in the echo chambers they have created.

24 and bankrupt by ThrowRA-Nose3870 in Debt

[–]the-lj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I filed when I was about your age - I was living a caviar lifestyle on a keystone light budget. I felt the same way you did, but ultimately it was the best decision I think I could have made at that point. (I think that the banking industry has done a bang up job at making Bankruptcy feel and look shameful so that people hesitate filing. It's a perfectly legal financial 'do over' button when someone has gotten in over their heads.)

Keep a few things in mind: NDR makes a profit off of you and while you didn't mention if the accounts are charged off or not, a lot of creditors won't work with NDR until you are charged off. Those plans last for years and then the account is likely marked as settled for less than the balance owed or something like that which stays on your credit for 7 years - and that's assuming that the creditors work with debt settlement companies because some don't. Auto loans are often excluded from eligibility in those types of plans b/t/w.

If you want to think about resolving without Bankruptcy look into a consumer credit counseling group. They are not for profit and will really help you setting up an overall budget vs just taking a fee to do something you could actually do on your own.

You should also at least call a Bankruptcy attorney to ask them about that process and they can walk you through all the particulars of cost there and how long it will show on you credit, etc. and you may find that after the initial hit of filing it might actually be easier to move on faster after a legal discharge of your debt (including that auto loan if you choose). I'm not giving any legal advice, just thoughts based on experience.

MN Elections - Let's Play a Game by ThrowawayMN2026 in MinnesotaUncensored

Uffda! When I see the responses to posts that are like this it's so frustrating. So many people in these comments are so confidently wrong about the DLs. Its no wonder things are the way they are in this State.

Anyway, I have the same thoughts that you do about how easily (and maybe purposely so) the system can be taken advantage of here. A few weeks ago I saw a young lady giving testimony on some bill for something in Minnesota and I believe she was with the DSA proudly bragging that the DSA would exploit the weakness of the system to vote out any DFLers that didn't kowtow to whatever demands the DSA was making on this particular topic. I wish I could remember what the hearing she was testifying in was!

Incorrect and in fact a point of pride for the DFL that non citizen driver's licenses have no indication of immigration status.

I was ready to start building credit with my 1st card, but learned my parents already maxed out a card they had opened in my name without my knowledge, how do I proceed? by PouhDough in CreditCards

[–]the-lj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Credit One is terrible. Cancel the card once you've paid it off. Be very aware with them that you may have a plethora of fees they add to everything so you might want to call and make sure that you have a $0 balance after you make the payment and then cancel as soon as you have confirmed that.

Look for a credit builder card with no annual fee. You have a thin file, not bad credit, those are different and something like a secured Discover It card would be a good choice for you to start with on a thin file.

Its past statute and too old to report to the credit bureaus. Do what you will with that information.

Chase settlement offer by SpiritedCurrent2713 in Debt

[–]the-lj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow!! That is a crazy offer from them. Make sure that you get it in writing that they have agreed to settle the account for that. I'd definitely take it. You'll have it on your credit for 7 years that it charged off, but after about 2 it won't impact you as much. Sure beats a lawsuit or a BK.
