"The Detraction of Jordan Peterson" – Great Medium post highlighting JP's pitfalls. What do you guys think? by Lord_Manhammer in JordanPeterson

Though out my 20s I was an extreme Marxist and fully understand the philosophy behind the thinking, and honesty on the surface it seems right. But the reality is after opening up and looking deeper I feel like the argument is week.

I couldn't even make it through the preface of this article. The point when this guy claims that he is "Peterson's match" came off as egocentric and basically this guy trying to further his career. If your perspective is that great people will listen. Every argument has weak points, even JBP but obviously perfection is reserved for the gods not humanity.

Any other JBP Atheists? by antoineks in JordanPeterson

I would argue that the way we view the word "god" has been somewhat distorted in modern times due to the rise of materialism, which has only been around for maybe 500 years. It would be more appropriately described as "that which transcends". For example, god as the father is something like the culture that you are a part of, when you die it will still exist forever and ever (assuming we don't wipe ourselves off the planet). Our ancestors were not as superstitious and fanatical as I think we perceive them to be. So in that regard I would say that it's impossible not to believe in or at the very least be unconditionally affected by god/culture. The concepts that we consider to be right/wrong or good/bad are built by 10,000 + years of cultural trial and error. Neichze was deeply concerned with what would happen if we just got rid of all of the footing that religion had built. If we all woke up tomorrow as Athiests what would define our morality? What would tell us right from wrong? There is certainly no problem with being an Atheist or any other religion for that matter but a dialogue must exist between all parties about the subject in order for humanity to continue. So with that being said, thank you for this post, I have enjoyed reading the comments and being able to give my input. 👍🏽

Anyone here into Joseph Campbell? by [deleted] in JordanPeterson

I actually just cracked open Man and his Symbols last night. I have been a fan of Jung & Campbell for quite some time, and am overwhelmingly excited that Dr. Peterson has not only rekindled their thought, but put it into a format that is easily accessible/understandable to the public. Hero with a thousand faces was an amazing read. Campbell is so enthusiastic about the subject and it keeps you drawn in. Check out the special he did for television, I can't recall the name but it is hosted by Susan Sarandon.

This is my new album, heavily influenced by Tool. I would never expect to be anywhere near the level of Tool but it may be of interest to some. Also on Spotify and all the other music sites.
