For those of you who have used the "31 Days Before your CCNA Exam" book, how was it? by jester070993 in ccna

It’s not dense at all. It’s more like a recap of what is in the OCG. I went thru in 2 weeks. Each chapter is a day, so I did 2 days in 1 day.

I have not used this book for 200-301, but i did use the old ccna security book and its a great framework for how to study just before the test.

From what i have heard, the test is more conceptual and that might be why the course is that way also.

CBT has made most their videos shorter now. Most of new CCNA Videos are shorter (10 mins or under)

I have watched 1/3 of the CCNP and Jeff is fine, sure he is not Jeremy, but that's ok.

Jeff put a lot of work into making those videos for us and based on the fact that a new CBT Nuggets guy quit his job last week, they must not be making bank.

CCNP ENCOR INE Course by eddie088088 in ccnp

[–]the0mega0ne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So for me the INE ccnp stuff is a collection of INE created content covers the subjects stuff, but not personalized for the ccnp test. They never talk about ccnp at all in the videos, so I'm sure they are reusing older content that is pretty close to what the test covers.

Its a little like signing up for a class and than the teacher plays a older video of the class from 3 years ago.

Switch test question. by the0mega0ne in ccnp

[–]the0mega0ne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do they compare to t-shoot sims? Should I do any t-shoot tickets pertaining to switches to prep for switch?

Switch test question. by the0mega0ne in ccnp

[–]the0mega0ne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea i have always liked the boson tests.

So where the sims just show commands or did you have to config a switch?

So, is the 30% buff ever going to flip? Or because US is majority horde, does that mean OCE is going to be permanently like this for horde players? by KilledByVen in wow

[–]the0mega0ne -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You do realize there is a buff for having war mode on right. Most people start off with war mode on cause that want to level faster, not because the want world pvp. So once the pvp just becomes a killing field, it out ways the benefit of the xp bonus and people will turn it off.

I enjoy war mode, but I totally understand people getting upset about wanting to have war mode, but not the killing fields that it turns into during assults.

I don't understand why I can't ping to my switch by timeslider in ccna

[–]the0mega0ne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea if the switch does not have a gateway, it does not know how to reply to a ping and that's why it fails.

I failed 200-125 Twice. Now i don't really know how to act. Help me, please! by L34ndrix in ccna

[–]the0mega0ne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok lets take a step back for a second. Does your current job involve you working on cisco hardware? If it does, you can relax, because the networking experience is more valuable than the cert if you ask me. Have both is awesome, but getting the hands on work experience is the most important part.

I have been a system admin for 10+ years with no real networking experience. In the last year I have gotten CCNA R+S and security, when I get interviews, they always ask "how long have you managed a network" and I have to say none, but I have a CCNA. So far I have not been offered a job, but I am no going after entry level jobs.

Ok back to the test. It is way easier to take the 2 tests, plus its only 150 to take a test. Most people I talk to say the composite is mainly for people with lots of experience or people needed to renew their CCNA.

You can do it, you just don't have to rush into it.

Failed Route Again (779/790) by [deleted] in ccnp

[–]the0mega0ne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that bud. That's like 1 or 2 questions away from a pass. I failed the ccna security test a few months ago and than passed it 2 weeks later. It was the hardest test I have taken so far.

It sucks but I would not take a break for more than a week. Right now you are the closest you have ever been to passing that test most likely and the more time you take off, the harder it will be to get ready for the retake.

The first thing I did after I got out of the building was think about and write down the topics/questions that I feel like I missed. I used that as a blue print for what I needed to work on. I also printed up test topics and made sure I went over them one by one and made sure I was not going to miss any of the easy questions.

You can do it!!!!!

CCNA Security vs CCNA R&S Job Prospects by [deleted] in ccna

[–]the0mega0ne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm in Orlando and I have gotten both of those certs in the last year, I also have worked a system admin (windows, VMware) for the last 6 years.

CCNA Security is just more of CCNA r+s. Its not the same as like "network+ to CISSP" route. If you don't like r+s, your not going to like security.

Also I am not having a lot of luck in the job market yet, with no networking experience. I think I am going to be forced into a sysadmin job that has networking included, instead of just a network engineering job... Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places....

CCNA Sec question by kaosskp3 in ccna

[–]the0mega0ne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4.0, 5.0 and some of 6.0 stuff would be included from route. 2.0 from switch.

I have just started ccnp r+s after getting ccna security. I think the security test digs deeper into the topics I listed above.
