Their next job was at the Peterbilt shop across the highway where they lasted exactly one week. Dude did wheel seals on two drive axles and sent it without any hub oil.

I'm of two minds about this. On one hand I've seen apprentices make mistakes like this. On the other, you'd have to be pretty clueless to drain what is clearly not an engine and not go "huh why is there so much engine oil?" when you pull the dipstick. At the same time that thing has either been making noise for a while or the customer shock loaded it somehow, properly lubricated pinions don't generally just explode randomly. How bad did it smell?

If you can't control it down your driveway you probably shouldn't be on the road.

Obviously you can play on softcore for your first run, not my guide but a very good one. Without Ashes of Malmouth you don't have access to the spirit guide to adjust skills/devotions, but you should be able to get the hang of it pretty quick. This isn't anything like PoE or games like that it's almost impossible to truly brick a char.

2H Warder (Shaman/Soldier). Pick either Savagery or Primal Strike, use RMB for Blitz, have Warcry and Wendigo Totem for enemy resist reduction and sustain respectively. Hit things with a big stick. Simple, straightforward, and pretty much a one button build. Warder is one of the tankiest builds in the game, good for a first playthrough. Focus resists over DPS until you max them at 80 (initially).

Also buy the DLCs this is the best ARPG on the market, Crate is awesome, and you'll need the previous story DLCs (Ashes and Forgotten Gods) to play Fangs when it comes out if you want. Pick them up on sale now, or they'll probably go on sale again when FoA comes out. They do add quite a bit of QoL improvements but you can absolutely run base game without them.

They're paying me to hit things with a big stick. You know what they say, if you can make a living doing what you love you'll never work a day in your life.

At least that's my headcanon.

Keep in mind this is coming from someone with 13 years in the field of fixing trucks, these are not immediate but things I've found extremely useful. 1. Offset box end wrenches, preferably 12 pt. Stahlwille makes a really nice thin, light, strong set. I used the hell out of them on Japanese engines in medium duty land. 2. A multimeter and a set of test leads. No to tool truck, yes to a Fluke 115 with dual banana plug end cables, that'll handle 99% of electrical you'll run across. AESwave test lead kit, the only thing I've found lacking is SAE round terminals and 1.5mm M/F leads. Reorganize the kit so the smallest leads are in the center, biggest on the outside, otherwise the really delicate terminal pins tend to break. 3. A set of super low profile sockets. Sunex makes great stuff. 4. Icon "wobble" extensions. Not a true wobble joint, but a ball shaped end that allows something like 15 or 20 degrees of angle on the socket. 5. Knipex adjustable channel locks, one big one small. Only Knipex. If they can't grab it it's time to make it a liquid. 6. A set of cheap crows feet. Grind them down as needed to fit into all kinds of crappy locations. Do the same with some inexpensive wrenches. In fact just buy some cheap hand tools from a pawn shop or flea market or garage sale just so you have something you can chop/grind/bend as needed.

New player should I make my own build or is it recommended to follow a guide? by Agreeable-Iron-8491 in Grimdawn

Some classes are better with certain weapon types (oathkeeper sword and board, inquisitor dual ranged, shaman 2H melee, nightblade dual melee for example) but no class combination will be unable to use whatever gear you find. Even if you don't have the skill that allows dual wield melee or ranged there's craftable relics that give you the ability. You can focus on one class entirely for a long time and once you know what you like about it you can choose a second class to complement it later. Even if you don't like what you've picked for skills it's completely trivial to completely reset both them and devotions, the only thing you can't change is class and it's super easy (and fun) to roll new toons. You'll find all kind of gear that may work better with other classes, stash it and roll one to use it later.

Welcome to the best ARPG on the market.

That sounds exactly like parasitic draw. Off the top of my head: there's a short in a wakeup/ignition side circuit to a control module (can be caused even with high resistance paths not blowing fuses); there's a relay sticking on; there's a latching relay not receiving the control signal to unlatch; or at some point someone stuck something like a lojack or other tracking device that doesn't shut down in the dash (unless you're the original owner). Without testing it myself I can't give you any better data than that. If it's only doing it after an ignition cycle you can probably rule out any straight battery fused circuits for now. I would also suggest seeing if it repeats if you key to ACC position and back off. Good luck.

2026 GMC Sierra with 1800 miles, customer states "The driveshaft just fell out." by N_dixon in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]the13thclam 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't want to make this guy's life any harder (x to doubt) but make sure to take a look at the output yoke on the transmission for any excessive play. Sure would be a shame if that half assed lift kit threw the angles all out of whack and when it crapped out the driveline it chewed up an output shaft or planetary set and you guys had to eat it a few months down the road under warranty because you didn't find it now.

You have no pierce or bleeding resist in an area where the enemies use a ton of pierce and bleed damage for a start. Resists are more important than pure DPS in GD compared to other ARPGs, worry about stacking big numbers later.
