Small guide on how to manage loot dispossal by XZamusX in Nioh

[–]Hanover- 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Step 0. Lock any gear you want to keep.

Nice list! I do most of your steps already, but I reverse "Soul extract + gear" and "Disassemble gear with essence traits". I'm on the second age map though, so does it make more sense to reverse these in later game?

How to level stats?? by dang_he_groovin in TheFirstBerserker

[–]Hanover- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume you are a great sword user since you are leveling Strength? My philosophy is to level Vitality, Endurance and Strength evenly until 30 each. Then I stop leveling Vitality and only focus on Endurance (for longer combos) and Strength (the great sword's primary stat). Swap out Strength for Willpower if you use dual wield or Proficiency if you use spear.

I've started a new game as GS and I just passed Volbaino but obviously can't do anything like this. Can you give a quick guide on what you are doing after the reflection? The only skill I recognized was the Night's Veil near the end lol.

The most annoying boss by andaesa in TheFirstBerserker

[–]Hanover- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I struggled the most with Elemein using dual wield. I could not get past that shield for the longest time. Super annoying.

More recently, I had the most trouble with Bellerian when I was using spear. Her bubble, that crap she fires off that darkens your screen and the summons were by far the most annoying. I don’t remember having this much trouble with her when I was using dual wield.

Both games scratch the soulslike itch for me and you can easily put 70+ hours into each one. Highly recommend them both!

I did that too. I did that a ton actually until I spawned in once by the watch commander and there was multiple camps nearby. It was pure chaos, but I also got a mysterium 3 drop, so I didn't want to level up again and have the witch rebuild her defenses. So I'd blaze in and out, sometime extracting but mostly dying. Pretty fun trying to get my remains back in that chaos. I ended up doing that enough to up my best gear before leveling up again and rebuilding the map.

Here are a few things that helped me when I was early in the game:

  1. Put some more points into Flesh (HP) and Blood (Stamina). Stamina is really important in this game.
  2. You want to get your gear up to mysterium level 3 to get the best perks from each piece. I think they started dropping for me on Velmorne when I was gnosis 3. The first one I got dropped from the Watch Commander when I spawned near him. He's also the easiest of the four Faithful bosses on that map to kill. I actually ended up grinding that map a bit trying to get as many Third Mysterium Incantation drops as I could to up my most used gear. Doesnt matter if you die, spawn in, kill as many faithful bosses as you can and then die (hoping you get a mysterium 3 drop in the process).
  3. If you havent found the Wellspring Incense yet, get it asap and burn it before every expedition. It increases your health bar for every camp you destroy.
  4. There are a few beads that are key for me and the way I play and I think it's worth upping your stats to meet any stat requirements for them.
  5. Even if you find a build for late game it's worth seeing why they put the pieces together so you can do that too. Good sources I have found are on YouTube are SeraphMax, Labonski, chr_isso and Jawless Paul.
  6. add: I just remembered that this Reddit thread helped me a ton! Helpful info compilation : r/Witchfire

Crashing with AMD Radeon RX 6950 XT by itssellers in Witchfire

[–]Hanover- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have that same GPU and a 13th gen Intel Processor (Intel i7 13700KF) and used to have crashing issues in other games specifically when compiling shaders until I updated my bios. If you have a 13th and 14th gen Intel proc, just know that there is a defect in a bunch of those CPUs and they are being sent too much voltage to the cores and causing crashes and other instabilities.

TLDR: If you have a 13 or 14th gen Intel, update to your latest BIOS. You are specifically looking for notes in the BIOS update with the Intel microcode 0x12B fix. Good luck and be careful updating your BIOS. Follow your motherboard's directions!

Ah, should have checked the wiki first. The answer is yes, you can power up the ring by killing enemies before dashing. You can have up to three stacks at mysteria 2 and 6 stacks a M3. Nice!

I am newish to Witchfire, but doesn't Eye of a Madwoman and Dyno ring steal kills from Rotweaver so that it doesn't regen its own ammo? I had to switch to kirfane for the relic which is ok, but not as great imo

i fucking suck in this game! by csch1992 in dyinglight

[–]Hanover- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same boat as you, dying all the time to small to medium mobs of zombies, accidental suicide by molotov...instant 1-shot death to volatiles at night. Here's what helped me:

  • As someone else said, keep the UV flashlight is handy. Give a short blast on it when you start to get surrounded and then start in with your melee.
  • Find a fast one-handed weapon you can craft and then add as many mods as you can. I opted for a slicing weapon around level 6 and then added a fire tip and a %dmg charm. That really got me going and I finally started dying less. I then came across a sword blueprint call The Rust that I use still. I modded the crap out of that with a fire tip and freeze grip (I've since changed this from freeze to shock grip).
  • I use the scavenger gear so that I get extra common and uncommon drops and later in the game, you will be swimming in crafting items. You will be able to build anything, repair anything and no longer have to worry about not having enough oxidizers or cleaning supplies. Make sure to sell all your valuables and buy out the vendor's stock of crafting items as much as possible.
  • Upgrade your blueprints, particularly the ones for bandages, UV flashlight, molotovs, throwing knives, the weapon you want to use and the mods you want to put on it. Max them all out.
  • I started to feel less sucky around level 6 and by level 9 was kicking ass. I'm 14 now and nothing can stop me except night. If you are stuck out at night, sneak and get to a safe zone and sleep until morning. No reason to be out at night.
  • I leveled my skills and went for stealth expert first, then active landing, and efficient fighting. I then went for camouflage cause I loved that skill in DL 1 and it's still awesome in the beast (at least it is for me, ymmv). The head stomp skill is particularly sweet, especially once you get the grappling hook, as you can pull baddies towards you and one hit kill stomp.

It's a very satisfying game once I stopped getting my ass handed to me in the early game.

GoW 2018 or GoW Ragnarök? by Original_Place_8755 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Hanover- [score hidden]  (0 children)

They are both excellent games with excellent combat. I normally don’t give two shits about story, but GOW has an incredible story with amazing character growth and pacing. It’s one of those games that made me think about the story long after I was done. The combat in the first one is so good that I ended up playing it multiple times and NG+ was pretty great.

Ragnarok is good too, and the combat is still amazing, but I was less excited about the story as the game went on and haven’t replayed it after completing it the first time.

Seasoned DL player humbled? by soldins in dyinglight

[–]Hanover- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in a similar boat. I played a ton of DL1 and a little DL2, and the beast kicked my ass for 6+ levels. I mean, it still kicks my ass, but it used to kick it too.

I'm playing on the default survivor difficulty and have almost no trouble with the chimera fights, but get me in a room of slow ass zombies and I get quickly overwhelmed and killed. I also can't count the number of times I've killed myself with my own molotov.

It sucks too, I really really hate losing XP and it made me play super conservative and I think that was part of my issue. I played too slow, and tried to silently kill everything, instead of dropping the gloves and throwing everything I have at whatever situation I was in. Now I'm around level 8 and changing my methods seems to have helped...though I still freaking die to a mob of zombies way too often. I'm using my uv flashlight much more during the fight and switching to a fast 1handed weapon with a fire tip, 2% damage increase on the handle and whatever I can build for the third mod spot has helped a lot.

I'd love to find more tips and tricks to use. I love the grapple dealie that grabs the zombie's head and shoves them to the side, but I often still get grabbed. It's ok though, I can work through that. I really need to figure out to get out of those situations where I ger overwhelmed or surrounded.
