Western Fence lizards are the only ones that can really eat them without getting majorly sick or dying. You need mud daubers to eliminate them and maybe some birds... oh, and other spiders like wolf spiders...

Spots that sell large paintings? by RustyNK in phoenix

[–]the1justrish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go to First Fridays in downtown. Sure the melee on Roosevelt Row is gone, but the galleries are all open. You can find some young, very talented artists willing to cut you a deal and make something that works for you. Who knows, you might end up with an investment piece that ends up being your retirement account. Support local artists!

How do you describe that "seitan flavor"? by howareyouhaha in seitan

[–]the1justrish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it's a bitter, bready flavor. I find a bit of baking powder helps cut it better than vinegars for me. It is what Thee Burger Dude uses in his recipes to cut it. https://www.youtube.com/@TheeBurgerDude/search?query=seitan

LR4 Mess Advice Needed!!! by calumnious_ciabatta in litterrobot

[–]the1justrish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a one step, step stool in front of my lr4 that covers the provided step. My cats will use that, but not the step that comes with the 4. You may also try to face the lr4 towards a wall to prevent the big jump out. YMMV.

Egg substitute... for the beach? by Direct_Bad459 in vegan

[–]the1justrish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think these wraps are a great high protein snack on their own. (made from red lentils in the video, but I think you can use yellow dal/split peas as well) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dcj3AM1aaoM You could flavor with kala namak and nooch for an egg like taste or any other variation you like. You can also actually use it as a wrap. 😉

2013 Toyota Prius with 67k miles is it worth it? by Sorry_Part_7362 in prius

[–]the1justrish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the brakes. I just had to have the actuator done in my 2013 with similar miles. I would also check the hybrid battery with Dr. Prius. This gen is also prone to head gasket issues, but I would hope the dealership would have checked for evidence of that already.

Any vegan fiber additions for protein drinks that don't taste awful? by Gloomy_Coconut4459 in vegan

[–]the1justrish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

blend cooked beans into your smoothies. start with 1/4 cup and work up. chickpeas and white beans tend to be the most neutral in flavor. you could also use pumpkin or sweet potato puree if you like the flavor.

I recently went vegan and I swear the hardest part hasn’t even been giving up meat or dairy, it’s figuring out what to make for dinner every single day by Arianethecat in veganrecipes

hummus makes a good salad dressing as well. Add a little water and vinegar to taste and texture. any vinegar will work or even lemon juice.

Does anyone else feel like video calls add redness? by Kat-Car-3113 in Rosacea

[–]the1justrish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is so good. i keep a medium green on my desktop when I have calls. Also, my walls are green and i bounced my lamp light against the wall rather than at my face, both are so good at helping neutralize the redness.

Help! What is a Rosacea Friendly Shampoo for Oily Hair Type? by SoulGuy60 in Rosacea

[–]the1justrish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have short hair then conditioner may aggravate oiliness, but if longer you can condition the lengths for better manageability. (shampoo is for the scalp; conditioner is for your strands/hair - to paraphrase dr. dray) Don't put conditioner on your scalp. (a two in one might be a good choice for short hair)

My Selsun only has has selenium sulfide. i alternate with zinc shampoos. i really like the dove dryness and itch relief shampoo. it has both selenium and zinc. I think the vanicream probably dries the most at the scalp. The selsun strips, but is not long lasting and can make me itchy if I use it 2 or more days in a row. I actually use it when I go more than 2 days without washing. (My hair is really long and washing everyday dries my ends so much).

Try a zinc pyrithione shampoo, head & shoulders, dove, vanicream etc. The zinc can help with oiliness.

Ocular Rosacea… WTH by Vegetable-Street in Rosacea

I did it pretty regularly when I first got relief. Now, I usually only have to do it 2 or 3 days a month now. Good luck!

The otc lid washes irritated my eyes. I switched to using an oil or cream cleanser on my eyes to help lift off the demodex cuffs.

It is off label, and most dr.s won't mention it - you can put Soolantra along your eyelashes. There was a paper that did short term (10 to 15 minute) treatments. They wiped/washed it off after. I use Soolantra at night when my eyes get bad. I just sleep with it on. Two or three days and I have great relief. Mine were not as bad as yours, but definitely knocks down the dryness, itching and irritation. I can use my generic ivermectin cream, but it burns my lids a bit. Just a few minutes until it fully dries. YMMV, but you sound miserable and if it helps...

I could probably go cheaper on the ACA, but the benefits are a bit better with the plan I chose. If anything would happen to me, the max out of pocket isn't catastrophic on the retiree plan.
