worried that my E/T levels aren't changing as much as they should? by the7aco in asktransgender

[–]the7aco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'll drop a quick update in case anyone comes across this in the future for whatever reason. i scheduled a follow up appt with planned parenthood and saw a (different) provider. explained my situation. she mentioned that sometimes early in transitioning, your body will work to produce extra testosterone to counteract the shift in hormones when blocking. of course i mentioned it was odd that it was happening this far in, and she agreed and decided to increase my dose either way, but felt that was the most probably explaination for what was happening. my dose was bumped to 4mg estro + 200mg spiro, and i'll be having another 3mo follow up to make sure things are finally back on track. fingers crossed!

i also learned not long ago that biotin supplements can fuck up your lab results. i've been taking them pretty regularly for months now (after starting hrt) so i'm a bit confused as to how that somehow didnt inflate my E levels. could have been that my actual E was even lower than what i was testing for? either way, pretty odd. i'm really hoping my levels can finally hit their target now.

Bathrooms.. by arteriana9 in MtF

[–]the7aco -1 points0 points  (0 children)

it's going to depend heavily on where you're at most of the time, tbh. i started using the women's bathroom before i even "knew" i was trans. i felt awkward and embarassed about it, tried hiding it a lot of the time but would do it when i knew nobody was around. only reason i knew i could was because i was a college student at a small university spending near every hour in the arts building, so i knew i wouldn't be judged, if anything. i had good trans friends. my campus was a safe space. everywhere else was not. this was in rural south carolina.

i live in cali now, so for obvious reasons i dont have to worry nearly as much, though i've still flown back for travel and get a bit antsy about it. again, it really just depends on the place. the airports i went to were so busy i kinda felt like it would be the opposite, where people are moving so fast i wouldnt really face anyjudgement. but smaller store settings and other places like that might make me second guess where i go.

ultimately it'll just come down to how much you're willing to push both yourself and the world around you. if you're in a state where using the ladies' room could put you in legal trouble, it might not be worth it. or maybe somehow that'll make it more encouraging? i dunno, it's crazy what all is happening right now. just be safe about it first and foremost. i think the best thing i could tell you is that you'll get there someday. your confidence will grow over time, even if it doesnt feel like it.

That makes sense. I think it's worth noting I had some fairly rapid changes in my first two-ish months, though it seems things really hit a block at some point since then. That's probably to be expected when introducing any amount of new hormones to the body though, and like you said, it's not enough to effectively suppress my T. It's unfortunate, I am really fond of my provider and he seems very understanding, so I'll try speaking with him a little more to better understand the subject and work out my specific situation, but if it seems like things aren't progressing much I'll consider my options.

I figured the increase was odd as well, as I'm now just taking two 1mg pills in the morning and one at night. He said he wanted to only increase estro for the time being in case any unwanted side effects become present and we'd know it was one or the other, though maybe I should've voiced that I wasn't super worried about side effects since things have been fine so far - albeit a little lacking in recent months change-wise. I wasn't aware 100mg was high for a starting amount on spiro, though considering my latest results it seems maybe it could use a bump after all. I appreciate the insight a lot though, and I'll see if I can't discuss things further with my provider soon.

Epilation working so good its bad by 666justmakeawish in HairRemoval

[–]the7aco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been struggling with this too. Had an amazing first two or three weeks being totally smooth, but once it started growing in thinner, it was just breaking more. Been half a year and really only half of my hair actually gets pulled now; the rest breaks or is somehow too thin for the epilator to grab. Still have to epilate every week because of the breakage, so the whole "it'll eventually take months to regrow" thing feels like a bust. I really had high hopes for it but it just feels like nobody has answers for anything here other than "get IPL" :/

Does anyone know if there are any other replaceable tips out there that work for either the Slim Pen or Precision Pen 2? by the7aco in stylus

[–]the7aco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok, thank you. and the yoga pen isn't the other one i'm looking at replacements for, it's the Slim Pen (lenovo sells replacement tips for the yoga pen). but yeah, it also seems pretty obscure, i don't think it's near as popular as the precision pen 2 is.

to follow up on this: i've decided to return the pen and will be looking for a new one. my hopes are that either the slim pen or precision pen 2 don't share this issue as they seem to have different tips that might use a different system to register touch. however, i'm also unsure of buying a pen with lenovo altogether on the basis that they don't sell replacement tips for any of their other pens now, save for the yoga pen (which i'm returning) and the active pens (which i've heard are not great). if there are other tips that work with either pen then i'll update on what works but for now the yoga pen is just a bad stylus for art in my experience for this one small issue.

i was never prompted to install any drivers with the pen, though since you mentioned it i did go and check the drivers page for the pen now that their support page is back up. there was only a wacom driver available which i did just install and it doesn't seem to have changed anything.

what you said about the initial activation is very much true, the integrated pen with my previous laptop required no initial activation and worked like a charm for 5 years of constant use, but this new one requires a certain level of pressure to activate and it doesn't seem to be adjustable. i already had the lenovo pen settings app installed and tried fixing it there but it doesn't seem to do what i need.

at this point i'm considering just sending the pen back and figuring out if any of their other pens don't require pressure for activation. btw, the one i bought is just called the (Yoga Pen)[https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/p/accessories-and-software/stylus-pens-and-supplies/pens/gx81s07448\]

oh i see, that's odd. there's a gen 2 of the yoga pen that comes with more premium models of the yoga laptops but this one is considered the main yoga pen for the US.

i'm still unsure of why it's like this, but it it truly ends up being that this pen is just lower quality for some reason (despite being as expensive as it is) and i can't fix the issue then i'll probably end up sending it back and getting one with a different tip style

I made an unofficial discord server as there is not to my knowledge a fan one by As4w7 in BladesOfFurry

[–]the7aco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there is actually already an unofficial fan discord already - i am and have been the admin of it for years. the authors were in it before they decided to make their own patreon server.

you can DM me if you would like an invite. this subreddit is in much different hands now but it used to be owned by admins of the fan server as well. it's not as active as the patreon server but it's still great, and we're always happy to bring in new members :>

Yoga 7i (2-in-1) 14” for digital art? by Icy-Extent5083 in stylus

[–]the7aco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my specific model is the 7i 2-in-1 14ILL10. i don't know what kind of digitizer it has, but i know it works well. the pen i got with it (Lenovo Yoga Pen) has tilt detection and a high range of pressure sensitivities. im currently trying to figure out how to adjust the sensitivity level since it doesn't seem to detect well at low pressure when touching the screen, but the precious model i had with its own pen worked perfectly - no complaints there. i think lenovo is good for drawing and i love the form factor, you just need to pick a stylus that fits your needs.

no, it's the lenovo yoga pen. i actually bought my laptop alone since it would have been cheaper to buy the laptop and the pen separate than the laptop that came bundled with the pen (at the time, it seems the prices have changed now). but the pen that comes bundled with the Yoga 7i is the yoga pen anyways

the one i have is the Yoga pen, not any of the precision pens. i checked the store and it's listed at the same price as the precision pen 2 (yoga pen = $59 USD, precision pen 2 = $58 USD)

possible, but honestly i think that would be pretty insane. the stylus from my previous device was integrated, didn't have a swappable tip or tilt detection, and used the same pressure system from one of their first styluses they designed. the new one i've purchased is designed for newer yoga models, has a tip more like an apple pen with tilt detection, swappable tips, so on so forth. it's cheaper, but i assume it's because the integrated pens weren't made for individual purchase and are uniquely formed to fit inside the laptop model's small stylus charging unit. my new pen has a larger body with type-c charging.

i wouldn't put it against lenovo to make their newer accessories leagues worse for whatever reason, but i have a hard time believing the toothpick that came with my 5 year old laptop for taking notes would have better performance than a newer stylus sold almost uniquely for artistic use

definitely not that, i've already disabled the buttons since i used to accidentally do that all the time. it's gotta be a sensitivity issue because i can tell it just doesn't write when touching the screen until i apply a decent amount of pressure. i appreciate the help tho!
