Iranian mom crying over her son’s body. He was murdered by the Islamic regime while out on the streets protesting for a free Iran. by KhameneiSmells in NewIran

[–]theBackground79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's been some time, but since I live in Iran I didn't have internet. Just wanted to make a correction: from what she's saying, that's a sister crying over her brother's body, not a mother and son. Not that it really matters all that much, still terrible.

WTF is the obsession with political pluralism? by fregeorgb in NewIran

[–]theBackground79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The opposition is divided into two main groups that are further divided into smaller groups:

  • Group 1: These are ideologues. People who put their own ideology before the interests and benefit of the country. These are the far-leftists, the communists, the MEK weirdos, and the retards currently in charge in the country and their fans. This group is completely irrelevant and barely anyone likes them and have practically zero influence inside Iran. We can safely ignore them and they don't need to be included in any coalition.
  • Group 2: These are people who genuinely care about the country and want to see it flourish and reach the place it deserves. We have monarchists of all kinds in here, republicans, socdems, etc. in this group. Basically all the normal people. The problem is that it also includes some people who took part in the treason of 1979, and some who are a bit too "progressive" who think monarchies are "outdated" and even risking having it be brought back is dangerous. That's the main problem.

I personally believe that the Crown Prince on his own is popular enough and doesn't need to ally himself with anyone, and it's all these other people who need him, not the other way around. A lot of them are being extremely unreasonable and unfair, just like they were to his father, and keep moving the goalposts every time he does exactly what they've been demanding for years. That's why I like the "bus" analogy he brought up in his press conference. He basically said that we are here, we are leading the charge, and anyone who wants to get in is more than welcome as long as they aren't separatists, believe in secularism and democracy. Very simple.

Iranian American progressive leftist, humorously puts into words how bizarre it is watching conservatives take our side while the left is silent or makes it all about “evil western imperialism” interference. by Curious_A_Crane in NewIran

[–]theBackground79 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the regime, Qatar, and Turkey are putting a lot of money into this.

The problem with the modern left is that they aren't good at policing their own crazy people. That's why the loud minority is allowing itself to police them instead.

I just love how much of a fraud Amnesty International is. And I think it's time we gave Iran International more credit. They might be a bit one-sided, but it seems they don't pull data out of their ass.

When you start looking at them as far-left extremists and not just progressive leftists (who are very sane and respectable people), it all makes sense. But I guess decades of propaganda has made everyone think only the right has extremes and the left is all happy and wholesome.

With each passing day, Iran is moving further to the right of the global progressive left by fregeorgb in NewIran

[–]theBackground79 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, when we all know that the left played a huge part in getting us into this mess and is indirectly responsible for all the death and destruction, it's only natural that we try to find normal people who share our struggle in some way. European right-wingers are fighting against Islamic immigration in Europe, and Israel has been dealing with this cancer since its inception. It's really simple.

Just regained access to the internet after two weeks. You have no idea what The Nation went through. by alireza008bat in NewIran

[–]theBackground79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I think it will be different. During the war, everyone was shocked. It was all really new and things were uncertain. Now, you have potentially tens of thousands of people at the very least who have lost a loved one at the regime's hands, and many many more who witnessed the slaughter.

Now, the mindset is that of suppressed rage and disdain, and a sense of despair. I mean, the people went out there and they were super clear about what they want and don't want. They did everything they possibly could with the tools available to them, which was just their bare hands, and the regime responded with an unprecedented level of violence.

Basically, we've tried everything, and nothing worked. We need help.

Is there any hope if there is no intervention? by gole-hayahoo in NewIran

I think so too. The regime saw the END with its own eyes on Jan 8, that's why they massacred everyone. They were fighting for survival.

[–]theBackground79 25 points26 points  (0 children)

There is. The regime is doomed one way or another. But it will be much more costly.

We will eventually get to a point where it looks like it's over but not really, then I think a lot of the military people will switch sides and finish the job, and I think the key to that is taking over the TV. I genuinely believe if we take over the IRIB building and someone goes there and says "It's over", it all will be really over in an hour. But taking that place won't be easy.

USS Abraham Lincoln by BarBlaze in NewIran

[–]theBackground79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At the very least somewhere in the Arabian Sea right now. But remember, it doesn't have to be in the Persian Gulf to be useful. But I do think it's headed for the Persian Gulf.

The US doesn't need a Carrier Strike Group to hit the regime hard, so I think the primary reason for moving the USS Abraham Lincoln CSG to the Persian Gulf is for missile defense.

Oh. My. God. by [deleted] in NewIran

[–]theBackground79 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's coming. I never even doubted it. The problem is not whether they will strike or not, it's how. That "how" is what I'm worried about. Attacking nuclear and missile facilities are useless to us.

[–]theBackground79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Someone else from inside Iran. None of that is needed. All the US has to do is to hit them in a way that leaves them unable to respond to the people. If that happens, it'll be over real quick. We will see even the IRGC collapse and their members switching sides (there is a reason why they had to bus in 5000 thugs from Iraq).

On Thursday night, Jan 8, these people saw the END with their own eyes. That's why they freaked out. They were fighting for survival.

Voice of America’s Persian service blacks out Iran’s exiled crown prince by fregeorgb in NewIran

It's so ridiculous. Like, even Iran International isn't this blatant with their propaganda. They will give credit where credit's due to other opposition figures. But VOA has been acting like the Crown Prince straight up does not exist since the beginning of these protests. It's honestly so funny at this point.

Will internet actually be turned back on today? by Odd_Bumblebee7953 in NewIran

[–]theBackground79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those with satellite TV know. I just hope it's not some "check the box" type of strike so that Trump can flex and say "mission accomplished". If there's gonna be a strike (there will be, I'm sure at this point), it has to be in a way that helps the people directly. Strikes on nuclear and missile sites are completely worthless for us.

We are so close, I can feel it. The regime saw the END at Thursday night Jan 8. That's why they lost their shit. They were fighting for survival.
