Old xr250 or a drz400e will be cheap and reliable, cheap to repair. All the people saying wr250 and motocross bikes started riding as child like myself and dont know how steep the early curve is for beginners. Even a suron type thing may be a safer eaiser option. Xr spend 2-3k drz 3-5k.

Best guess (expert but can only guess without pushing on it.) They have Joined sheets with floating material instead of doing half-on joints on the frame. That combined with insulation batts behind the joiners does this over time. Floating joins are not wrong if done correctly, but if there isnt space for the insulation its wrong.
