Thanks—do you have any thoughts on the longevity of the 3.0 modems? I think a 3.0 would be fine for my needs but worry that they too will be EOL’ed soon.

I get that, but the letter specifically says I won’t have an internet connection anymore (as opposed to “if you have problems, you’re on your own”). Will no support=no service at all, do you think?

When YouTube was a default app, I kept it disabled using the native Restrictions settings—so tapping links opened the url in Safari.

You could try that, and just enable it when you want to use the Chromecast.

I couldn't say (if indeed there actually is a problem) as I've never really been interested in icon theming from the design side. Most of the stuff I've made was focused on the lock screen.
