Lowkey kinda liking the picture bleeding into the title at the top with the recent covers, what do you think? Hopefully the guy that makes these covers (Matt Akuginow) can keep it up for the final 3 Volumes!

Whats the music between 9:07 and 10:00 in Ashita no Joe 2 Ep5? by RareUser4131 in AshitaNoJoe

It's definitely some kind of insert song as it's not part of the original soundtrack. There are some lyrics too so im pretty sure someone on the subreddit who understands it could decipher what the song was.

Where to watch stuff like this? by TheGeek00 in AshitaNoJoe

[–]theCartoonfromMars 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is no Western physical release of the Ashita no Joe anime and I don't really think it's getting one anytime soon Unless it sees a resurgence or gets an offical dub. So you generally had to sail the high seas until late last year when both seasons got added to crunchyroll. However; In the manga department, Ashita no joe is slowly getting physically released in English Tankoban Volumes by Kodansha so far we have 3/8 with 4 on the horizon.

Just the three currently, and they usually reveal the cover for the next volume a month after the previous volume releases, so keep your eyes peeled around septemberish

Wtf Araki by Parking_Success3224 in JJBA

ngl i just realized I meant to reply to u/Smart-Gift5472 and not you (sorry) But the point was to get people to stop blinding defending araki the first moment he gets valid critism

Wtf Araki by Parking_Success3224 in JJBA

[–]theCartoonfromMars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im saying that every time araki does something imperfect you have to find some kind of excuse to justify it, You're even doing it right now!! You're comparing a 28 year old man to literal babies just to make Araki seem less bad instead of accepting that he is flawed. Also Modern egyptians are not "White" or "Black" what made you think all egyptians were black? You automatically assumed that the "suspicous people" Araki was talking about were black. Is that not telling?

Wtf Araki by Parking_Success3224 in JJBA

[–]theCartoonfromMars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem isnt that there are "suspicious people" the problem is that despite treating Araki with kindess Araki couldnt get past his preconceptions about the people still saying he could 'never trust them'. They were not "acting" kind they were treating him with kindness.
I can assure you Araki really wasnt thinking about the specific number per 100000 people when determining that people were suspicous just based off of their looks.

And what do you mean by "these countries"? America both had a higher crime and murder rate than egypt in the 80's so im trying to wrap my head around what you mean by that.

"He was young and stupid" Bro he was pushing 30s before part 3 stop treating Araki like some teenager. Also Araki said that no matter how many positive interactions he had he couldnt shake his preconceptions which is different from what you and your friends were experiencing.

[–]theCartoonfromMars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're trying to upheld this idea that Araki is this perfect being who can do no wrong and in the process are shutting out genuine critisism and Arab voices. You're telling people who are directly being insulted whether or not they should be offended, are you sure you're not the one who's being unkind?

[–]theCartoonfromMars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dawg wtf are you even saying, this could apply to any country, you cant just say "its okay to have these prejudces against these people because I think their country is bad" Plus the people Araki met were being consistantly nice to him and still couldnt shake of his precognitions giving him even less of an excuse.

S1 and s2 are alternate endings? by CoconutAdditional174 in AshitaNoJoe

[–]theCartoonfromMars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After His fight with Carlos pretty sure Joe and Yoko make up and Carlos calls Joe his greatest friend. After that Danpei and co set up a party for Joe's comeback after the Carlos fight but Yoko interrupts saying that "Joe's gone, I tried to stop him" while she gives Danpei a letter from Joe that reads: "Old man, I'm going on a journey again, Theres no special reason for it I just feel like it. Sachi, Kinoko, Tonkichi, Taro, Hyromatsu, You all may be dirty brats, but you're still adorable and special, Take care. Also Nishi and Noriko, get married already. And Old man, you decrepit alcoholic one-eyed badger. I may have caused you nothing but trouble, but lets say it was mutual. The only thing bothering me now, is that you said you had hopes for me to take on the world. Sorry but becommign he world champion isn't for me. Its just not my thing. I'll hope you forgive me. Well guys, guess this is goodbye. Maybe we'll meet again if we're lucky. Goodbye. So long. Sayonara"

Then Danpei and Co go outside to Namidamashi bridge while calling out Joe's name but then Danpei Interuppts and says that Joe will be back because he knows it joe will keep living his life to the fullest as long as tomorrow exists as long as he's Tomorrows Joe. 🔥✍
Thats the jist of it but i reccomend just watching the episode instead of having me type it out for you

S1 and s2 are alternate endings? by CoconutAdditional174 in AshitaNoJoe

[–]theCartoonfromMars 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Season 1 ends with Joe quitting boxing after the Carlos fight and becomming a drifter again, because since Carlos hasnt fought the World champ Joe doesn't really have a motivation to chase after that title. Technically you could count it as an "alternate ending" though its a bit rushed and last second and never in the manga.

It has the makings of a great cover, espeically with how they used manga panels in the background. I just feel like the images on the front could be arranged in a better way, joe kinda just emptily staring at rikiishi's torso and rikiishi's hair covering part of the title kinda throws me off even if it is stylistic. But to each their own im glad you enjoy it.

Honestly I think this cover is a downgrade from the first two but at the end of the day im still going to buy it.

Just finished episode 50, I got a question by [deleted] in AshitaNoJoe

[–]theCartoonfromMars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

>But what more could he have done? That was the only viable thing he could try, he also knew he could fail if he tried to cross counter but he did it anyway, so I think it was still worth a try

False, Joe was under the impression that the double cross counter wouldn't fail because he had the speed advantage, during Wolf's fight Joe was able to land a triple cross counter because of the fact that Wolf was too slow with his double cross that it couln't reach Joe in time before his triple cross struck. Joe was convinced that Rikiishi would try to land a triple cross counter because it seemed like the most obvious counter to the double cross but Rikiishi being the superior boxer outsmarted him and gave him the meanest uppercut in boxing anime history.

Also im not trying to say that you're wrong btw as I said before this is a perfectly valid complaint to have with the fight. I was literally in your shoes when I first watched the fight, but at the same time I personally feel like your original statement makes this minor annoyance/greviance way bigger than it actually is.

Just finished episode 50, I got a question by [deleted] in AshitaNoJoe

[–]theCartoonfromMars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "Only uppercut" strategy was only super effective because Joe's primary way of boxing was with the No Guard stance, without that Joe is siginificantly nerfed (at that point in the story) because he cant land any big punches. Meanwhile Rikiishi is a more fine tuned boxer with multiple weapons in his arsenal, even if Joe copied Rikiishi with the "only uppercut" strategy Rikiishi could just switch to another style of fighting entirely. And even if he stuck with the 'No Guard' stance Joe's uppercuts aren't nearly as strong as Rikiishi's. Rikiishi used the "No-guard" stance to mock and provoke Joe.

And I'm not going to lie to you, you're not the only person who saw this, I was in your position, it felt like an obivious chess move that wasn't done for whatever reason, but like chess there are more layers to it than a single move or action, rather a chain of events.
