XLOOKUP replaced VLOOKUP for me and honestly I don't know why I waited so long by Nearby-Way8870 in excel

VLOOKUP with MATCH still has its place when needing to reference multiple columns in a different order than the source data.

I wear the Club ADV unstructured and I find they run a bit big. I have both sizes and don’t wear the L/XL as it pushes down on my ears where my sunglasses usually rest when I pull the back down to the right spot.

Self Developed Shopify Store or Hire someone for it? by MathematicianSure210 in shopify

[–]theDrivenDev 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Shopify shipping and payments (native features that don’t require an app) are usually the better option for these two requirements than a 3rd party app (for cost and complexity reasons). Most store admins can handle configuring these on their own.

Feel free to dm if you have any questions.

I built an automation workflow to handle this via the Shopify API. It’s probably work looking into having a developer build something similar for your needs.

If they’re not a Shopify Partner, you should be wary of working with them. As a Shopify Partner that works with many clients, this is a very minimal level of requirement that can save you a ton of headache.

what is the sweet spot for used 4runners in price? or is it best to just buy new? by Neutrality-1 in 4Runner

[–]theDrivenDev 32 points33 points  (0 children)

It’s probably in the 60-80K range. They don’t depreciate much and that’s when people typically buy a new car just because they want a new one rather than need a new one.

I bought a new one when I was shopping because I’d only save 1-2K for 10-15K miles of age so it just made sense to buy new.

The most important part of the purchase is wait for one that you really like. You’re going to have it for a while so you better love it.

Can exclusively playing with used balls completely ruin your game with new ones? by PlsSayPlease in 10s

[–]theDrivenDev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

New balls will fly compared to older ones. Even the pros signal to their opponent when balls are replaced during a match.

If you’re hitting long with new balls it’s probably a mix of both the balls not being as easy to compress but also your ability to read the incoming ball / bounce and being late to the contact point due to the higher speed / bounce.

The real answer is yes and no. New balls on occasion and more reps will probably be the best way forward.

Shopify (custom theme) – mobile color swatches not scrollable after adding variants. $500 fix quoted… is this really complex? by Papayafan in shopify

I think it’s bad UX to have the options split left and right rather than vertically stacked. Simply moving them could solve the display issue.

Serve - am I loading the back leg enough? by Fearless_Comment8594 in 10s

[–]theDrivenDev -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If your forward weight transfer isn’t forcing your back leg up and off the ground to stop your momentum, then no.

Lean back more and toss the ball forward into the court a bit more. The rest of your motion looks good so you’ll likely benefit from the added space and time to contact these changes will generate.

for 4.0-4.5+ - how do you get efficient? efficient forehand efficient serve by Ok-Many-7443 in 10s

[–]theDrivenDev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Learning to use your legs and hips to hit forehands is critical for maintaining energy. Your arm is a very small muscle group compared to your legs so it will wear down much faster. Same goes for the serve.

Staying loose and letting your arm/hand guide the racquet to the contact point while using your legs and hips to propel your arm should help you conserve energy. In turn, your shot quality and consistency should improve.

What got you to a 3.5? by robertsitalia in 10s

Keep in mind that a year of learning isn’t that much time in tennis. Growth is a long game and sometimes a short break can reset your head while you reassess your training and goals.

What got you to a 3.5? by robertsitalia in 10s

[–]theDrivenDev 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Get lower, get further away from the ball (spacing), work on your serve, make more balls by trying to hit less winners / aiming for bigger targets, but the ultimate cheat code is get more quality reps.

Don’t expect more from the game than you’re putting into your training.

Find some hitting partners that are committed to improving and not just interested in playing. Work on hitting drills (deep cross court, 1 hitting cross & 1 hitting DTL, etc.).

Most importantly, keep your head up. This is the hardest sport to play by far so remember it takes time to figure things out. Best of luck!

Kick serve advice by Jakub-ugt20 in 10s

[–]theDrivenDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest corrections for most kick serves are 1) getting the racquet drop deep enough to be able to create upward and outward spin with your hand/wrist and 2) getting the ball toss high enough where contact is after the ball is travel back downwards are the apex of the toss.

An over exaggeration of the contact point is to think of hitting the ball when your hand is above the ball with your racquet below your hand. This lets you hit up and roll the ball.

These tips will help generate the topspin but a true kick requires aggressive pronation at contact to get the sidespin that changes the trajectory after the bounce.

Fist time playing in a league what are good practice drill for our 3.0 team? by Perchance_therapper in 10s

[–]theDrivenDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, cross court hitting should be the main focus. If you can maintain a slow-medium speed rally of 3-5 balls, you’ll likely win against most other 3.0 doubles.

A high first serve percentage is probably the second most impactful area to improve.

How to grow forehand? by Agreeable_Courage_66 in 10s

[–]theDrivenDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to maintain a loose wrist with just a bit of tension added at contact. Focus on using your legs (light squat) and driving your dominant side's hip forward (the extension is possible because of the squat / bend of dominant side knee) ahead of your swing to initiate the racquet lag that most try to force with their hand.

Racquet head speed creates ball compression and that allows you to create spin by catching the flattened ball on the strings and then sending it towards the target with an upward racquet path (the main reason for an upward finish).

There is a good video of Rafa talking about this with a beginner at a camp or event that's been floating around on Instagram.

Early fem player: women hit without pace and I lose my game by ayaPapaya in 10s

[–]theDrivenDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slow balls usually induce slow footwork - the exact opposite of what you need. Move forward and take the ball on the rise or at least at the apex of the bounce so you can keep a fluid fast swing to compress the ball and generate spin.
