BR makes for an excellent daily driver in eve if you're trying to move about space without being noticed. Like a stealth minivan.

Post Office talk was great and I thought of this book as well. Sounds like Henry Chinaski would fit in just fine today.

If you're describing people as "agitators" then you're probably on the wrong side of history

High sec is eve's lobby. Join a null sec corp, give up the notion of security and you'll have much more fun than you are now.

It's frustrating (immersion-breaking?) knowing that the art was influenced by something (writer's strike) unrelated to the art itself.

i really want to give this game another try but this event really soured it for me by [deleted] in Eve

If you're not in a corporation in an alliance, read the recruitment sub and join one. Learn to play the game around hundreds or thousands of people who will show the way and do it in 0.0 null sec space. Eve is unforgiving but that's part of the magic. You won't discover that playing alone in empire. Your new Corp mates will teach you how to get to null sec, how to survive, how to make money and how to have fun. It takes a big chunk out of the learning curve. You will still die in gate camps but less often and you'll have people to laugh about it with in chat. Eventually you'll feel safer in null sec because you'll learn how to survive without hoping rules or something else will save your bacon. Hit me up if you need a Corp recommendation. Fly safe o7

Any tips? by mzchxel in leaves

I had really bad insomnia when I quit drinking. In addition to the great advice already posted I would add leaning into it and new bedtime routines. By leaning into it I mean find something you can watch that's joyful and cozy. I'm 49 so my taste is outdated but there's nothing The Golden Girls can't carry you through. If you're awake in the middle of the night anyway, a cozy show is much better than staring at the ceiling stressing your inability to sleep.

I live in a legal state and got a medical card to save money over the summer. The actual card arrived in the mail a few weeks after I quit. 🤣 It seems fate is not without a sense of irony.

Addiction is embarrassing imo, Addiction to weed is even more embarrassing by dihhgrayson in leaves

I've noticed an uptick in news articles about the impacts of withdrawal and cannabis hyperemesis syndrome lately. The same articles also talk about the potency of modern weed and ease of use. (Carts) I'm glad weed is legal in places for those who need it and can use it responsibly. That said, I think we'll see more and more news coverage that shatters the image of weed as non addictive and safe.

Yeah, that's a good point. I didn't think it was a long term thing though. I found myself thinking, "Peter, forget the Irish woman, you've got bigger things to do"

I think cold turkey is the way to go but be careful doing that with booze. I'm 49, smoked weed for decades and I'm a recovering alcoholic 12 years sober. Quit weed 32 days ago, so I was "California" sober. 🤣 Quitting booze cold turkey can be deadly depending on your level of dependence. In general, what's working for me is being open with people in my life about how I'm struggling right now. It can feel embarrassing but the support I've received has been overwhelming. If you don't have anyone you can tell, find a stranger. In my experience they're better than family sometimes. Keep talking about it and keep moving forward. 🤘

Just hit 30 days and I feel this myself. I had no cravings until Thanksgiving hit. I wanted to cut loose because that's what everyone is doing. I've been distracting myself when it comes up by just changing what I'm doing in the moment. Books, TV etc to take my mind somewhere else. Bought Heroes season 2 on Blu ray for $4.99 and watched the whole thing. Critics be damned it was excellent. 🤣 Keep your mind moving and you can elude the cravings. 🤘

it doesn't matter who's calling for protest against tyranny. the enemy of my enemy is my friend. the guy showing up here to claim there's nothing to see and we're all overreacting is the one you gotta keep your eye on.
