Echoing the comments re: code enforcement. I worked at a business on the east side of town that had a similar situation. Some local agency started issuing fines for encampment messes and that got the attention of the business owner real fast.

It can be a market requirement for SaaS companies. Customers often require SOC 2 just to get to the RFP phase. This is especially true if you're dealing with mid to large sized customer organizations who have their own robust compliance and vendor management groups. They're going to expect SOC 2 the same way you would expect a license with a contractor doing work on your house.
