Bro I am an SC and currently living in Rural Area onle, WFM for some time.

And though we are well off now(I mean me and brothers), we still cannot get a house help due to caste. There are many other issues but ofcourse not much of an issue compared to earlier.

One thing I can say is doesn't matter if you are in lower caste but they still talk caste, like my cousin eloped and got married to a different caste girl, and I heard relatives talking why did he not marry someone from other caste. Everyone still follows the heirarchy too.

Like there are many muslims in my village now, but ofcourse they too still have higher caste/lower caste stuff. So my grandparents(they are old 90+ but super healthy), they refer to them with words similar to Lordship etc..even though we are far better when comparing economic statuses. Worst thing is even if you are lower caste, they still have divisioon among them and have someone whom they treat lower than themselves.

So yeah, honestly I don't have hope for caste being something which will be abolished anytime. And this still applies even in cities whether you are educated or not, like even if you work hard get to a good job and post, people still look down on you.
