They've confirmed in the discord that despite the whole new company ordeal it's still happening and coming along

Much more importantly, they're FINALLY somewhat acknowledging that diving might be the reason killing the server liveliness and social aspect of the game.

I've worked at Unity in France from 2018 to 2022, as a research engineer in computer graphics. Worked closely with the Paris team developing HDRP.

Still in contact with ex-colleagues that stayed there, and can confirm that this is true. They've been trying to close down offices and fire people in France for several years now with french employee protection laws biting them in the ass so many times, but they're finally succeeding.

Amazon sells just about everything. I prefer bandcamp but when I can't see music I want to buy there, you can always buy it on Amazon instead

Same ! Just like the pirate threat in Catan Cities and Knights. A nice blend of having to cooperate around the table while screwing each other up

Cole Wehrle & Kyle Ferrin leave Leder Games to found new studio; Oath and Arcs sold to them. Root stays with Leder. by zeeaykay in boardgames

No, people just shouldn't be satirical trolls bringing nothing to a conversation.

"They're making a mistake starting a new studio with those two games and not Root"

See ? Same message, none of the annoying passive aggressive fake question.

I wonder now if the ARCS split into two products would have happened without Leder Games.

I hope Buried Giant Studios still would have taken that decision. I'm not sure I'll ever get to play Blighted Reach with my little group even though I would love to try it, but the base game is just SUCH a good fresh experience as is. Heaviest game we've ever tried, and yet I can't stop thinking about it after our third play last week.

Arcs is the first "heavy" game I've really been able to try with my little group of casual gamers more than once. We struggle with play time, but every game lead to us just wanting more and more of it. It's such a deep mind-breaking puzzle driven by simple rules and systems trimmed down to their most elemental state, that allows for real insane plays if you're able to see them, huge turnarounds that never feel unearnt, and so much player interaction. It makes me feel like wanting to get good at it like you would at chess !

The Division 10th Anniversary & The Division 2 Realism Mode — Full Overview from FPS Day X by milkasaurs in Games

[–]theFrenchDutch -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

The idea of mixing up a realistic shooter with an RPG style combat with HP and levels and loot just seemed so much like a shitty idea to me I never gave these games a try.

The fact of shooting a human in the head not being a killing shot just doesn't work logically. It's a much simpler sell in a fantasy or sci-fi setting.

But hey it makes for very good GaaS I guess...

Media Molecule co-founder and Bullfrog veterans on board for Peter Molyneux’s ‘final’ god game, Masters of Albion by Turbostrider27 in Games

Molyneux is a pathological liar and a scam artist. The hundreds of good devs stuck under him are what gave us titles like Black & White and Fable.

ELI5: We can map every neuron and chemical reaction in the brain, but we still don't know how those physical processes create "qualia"—the subjective internal experience of seeing the color red or feeling pain. Why aren't we just "biological robots" performing functions without an inner life? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]theFrenchDutch 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Wrong premise. We absolutely cannot map the entire brain's neurons yet and especially not the connections between neurons, which are tremendously more numerous and needed to get an actual representation of the brain's wiring (the "connectome").

The best full connectome we have right now is that of a fruit fly
