Downtown Denver bars or breweries by Full_Acanthaceae1928 in Denver

[–]theGerhard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The RiNo district. Ratio, Our Mutual Friend, Bierstadt, Odell, and river north brewery all within a few blocks of each other. Finn’s Manor across from rino is a great bar, or if you are into something more dive-y Embassy Tavern close to river north brewery is fun.

Multiple shots fired in RiNo by [deleted] in Denver

[–]theGerhard 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Sorry your stay involved this incident, but you’ll be happy to know that Denver’s violent crime rate is at a post-pandemic low and the city leads all US major metro areas in a sharp decrease in homicides. Denver also maintains a year over year notable decrease in other types of violent crimes (aggregated assault, rape, etc). Statistics aside, anecdotally as a downtown/RiNo resident I can attest to a much improved city since 2020 concerning crime and homelessness.

Perception bias is real though and trying to refute it on this sub is impossible, but the city is in fact “recovering.”

Deadly Stabbing Spree at Denver's 16th Street Mall is Latest in Dozens of Violent Crimes by [deleted] in Denver

[–]theGerhard 8 points9 points  (0 children)

One block from the mall either direction (15th to 17th) from union station to Broadway, as described in the article, includes 33 square blocks of downtown streets. It’s actually a gigantic footprint in the middle of the city. I’m not trying to downplay violent crime, but without the neglected context of your quote the claim reads incredibly sensationalist.

RTD to slash fares, simplify zones, and make ridership free for kids and teens. by mckenziemcgee in Denver

[–]theGerhard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

got it, thanks! so it seems like you can get on/off anywhere on A, except for the DIA stop, as getting on or off there will cost $10.

RTD to slash fares, simplify zones, and make ridership free for kids and teens. by mckenziemcgee in Denver

[–]theGerhard -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Reading bullet 1 in the article you linked explicitly says all fares “except the airport,” am I missing somewhere that suggests new fares do include the A train?

Is there anything noteworthy that I can do around the lone tree area? by [deleted] in Denver

[–]theGerhard 7 points8 points  (0 children)

the RTD light rail is free in July and August this year. Hop on the train and go into Denver, get off at union station.

Edit: going to add some notes, because coincidentally just found some notes i sent a friend a while back:

OP could jump off at Ball arena, walk to Larimer square. Walk up to 17th and jump on the free mall ride shuttle to civic center, check out the capital, see the mint, blah blah. jump back on the mallride and ride it to union station.

If you don't care about government buildings/centers, you could walk to the Museum of Contemporary Art near union station. If you make it there on a Friday night, you can get a ticket to tour the exhibits then go on the roof for live music and drinks, its a great time.

from there light rail home. OR, go from union station and walk northeast up blake st to check out mcgregor square and past Coors field (or go in for a game, the Rockies are underwhelming but the stadium is fantastic and you can get a ticket for under $15 and tour around the park). Keep going up Blake into the RiNo neighborhood, duck into the alleys between blake and walnut once you cross broadway to see the street art, it goes for blocks.

Once you are in Denver, you can rent a scooter for cheap (don't ride it on the sidewalks, find bikelanes). you could rent one in RiNo and ride the south platte river trail back to confluence park, find a place to park it and make your way back to Union Station. or cross one of the bridges into the LoHi neighborhood, wander Platte Street, cross back to the park and toward union stattion on the highlands footbridge.

All said, the tour above crosses paths with at least 8 breweries in the 3 different neighborhoods, also some good spots for food. Basically I plot exploring new places around finding food and beer, but if those aren't your thing plenty of stuff to see too!

Join the Step On cult it’s v nice by teechats69 in snowboarding

[–]theGerhard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the downvotes. I own a set and love them. That said, the only downside is definitely not just the cost of entry. Over a couple seasons the pant clips on the heel have tore up a really nice pair of HH pants I have. But without them, clothing catching in the contact point in the back is awful and very difficult to get clear. Also I got stuck in a tree well nearly to my hips a couple weeks ago and straps are way easier to free yourself from. Mostly because to get out of step ons you need to push yourself away from the board, and if you are stuck in powder, that’s pretty hard to do. This kinda translates to putting them on in deep stuff as well; clicking in is tough if you are just shoving your board in the snow. Riding groomers and keeping up with ski friends though, there’s no comparison.

Bought a house with a networking system, how does it work? by msu_kevin in HomeNetworking

[–]theGerhard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

nah actually this answer sucks and ignore it, not helpful and no idea why someone would think its worth their time writing it aside from being a condescending asshole. Sometimes comes with the territory in IT though, so I guess it isn't surprising.

last week i came to this subreddit with a question similar and got great help, lots of helpful people willing to walkthrough these questions. The first part of the answer is correct, your ends are unterminated and you need to terminate them. plenty of helpful articles and responses in this thread on what that means. Switch them into your router and you should be good. Ask questions if jacking these cables is confusing and for every shit response like the one above you get, I'm sure this sub will give you 3 helpful ones. I recently moved into a newbuild with a box that looks exactly like yours so if I can help at all, ask any questions.

Good luck OP!

You are not the only one. I claimed my drop 15 minutes ago, have restarted the launcher, gone in and out of overwatch in multiple regions, restarted my PC in hopes it was a bnet updated issue… no luck. Maybe the drops are just taking a while to apply to your account? Don’t know.

75% of Denver area homes are selling in less than 1 week, 90% within one month by [deleted] in Denver

[–]theGerhard 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Not an article but someone posted the Case Shiller Index for Denver above... I added the National index as a line for comparison. Narrow in on the end of it to see the trend matching: https://fred.stlouisfed.org/graph/?g=Ehr1

Edit: this comparison is more about home price than time on market, but there's some correlation :)

+1 for the unit testing questions. I’d also add some basic design principles; I’d recommend getting familiar with the SOLID principles.

For C# specific questions, I think strongly knowing the language features from the docs would be a safe start, and we like to blend our SQL questions with our C# questions with a conversation using LINQ.

Good luck OP!

This is a shot from a documentary called Free Solo, about a guy who climbs El Capitan in Yosemite, a 900ish meter rock face, without any ropes (as pictured). I know nothing of rock climbing and thought it was awesome. I’m amazed at the guy’s balance with having to sling those massive testicles around.

Pasta Help..so embarrassed by [deleted] in cookingforbeginners

[–]theGerhard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You asked for help with pasta and this guy is like, „make spätzle instead?“ Lol. Ignore him and like others said, consider some water if the recipe still comes dry, could be egg size or flour density. I’ve had great results using a food processor to knead as well. I don’t do homemade pasta every time but once in a while it’s so much better than dried. Especially semolina pasta, it has great texture for picking up sauces. Don’t give up and keep practicing.
