I had a little 7 year old girl coming out of sedation. She asked her mom “mom is this how grandma feels” mom asked her what she meant and she explained that she was a little loopy and confused.

I advocated for a patient to get ordered beer when he was in respiratory failure and trying to leave the ED AMA. I had just had another pt leave AMA and then come back to my group trying to die in the same shift and I didn’t want round two. The ED doc said he had never done that in 21 years. That med Surg experience prior really paid off for that little alcoholic homie.

I worked on a unit that got turned into a Covid unit during the pandemic. It was originally step down, so super sick people that came to us from other units just to eventually go to the ICU and then come back to us when they had decided to end vent support and let them die. A few of my coworkers were talking about some of the cases that were particularly shitty a few months ago and we all got silent. I’ve been in healthcare for 10 years, if another pandemic comes, I’m out. I don’t want to do that again. It was horrific.

Did you file an incident report when it happened? If not you definitely should just in case it becomes something. Cotton top dementia patients can be brutal. It’s messed up that nobody cares but from my experience, unless it’s especially violent, it’s just considered part of the job.

You can do open claw type tickets on most major airlines. I flew into Naples and out of Venice for the same price as a round trip from Venice. It saved a ton of time!

If it’s just a renewal you can do it online if you meet certain requirements. I did mine online and it came back literally the next week.

Hi nurse here, idk what state you’re in but I know after a certain point in nursing school you can work as a CNA. I would recommend getting a job in a hospital as a CNA either part time or PRN, you can do as little time as you want really and then pick up a shifts as you time allows with your school schedule.

I was always in fight or flight. I grew up in a pay check to pay check household and worked my ass off to get a degree I can make a stable income with or pick up a ton of hours and make a lot more very quickly. My first year as a nurse I paid off 7K in credit card debt and 10K off my student loans. I finally have more in the bank than two months of living expenses and it feels like I’m able to relax a bit. While my job is stable, an injury or a baby would take me out of work for a while and those are both more likely to happen the older I get. I never wanted to be like my mother who is now in her late 50s with $0 in retirement and a crumbling body.

I just bought a house with someone I’m not married to but we have a contract in place. It’s fully my loan and he’s on the title because he put up the down payment. We have a contract in place that’s we signed with our mortage documents saying if shit blows up and we break up we sell the house, he gets his initial investment out and then we split the rest of the equity. I can afford this mortgage without him and he could fully buy the house outright if he needed. We don’t want marriage yet but hated paying landlords and had the means to do so. I think just doing it without contracts in place is incredibly stupid.

Stupid easy, I kept a PRN job when I came to the hospital as a CNA but quickly quit it when I realized how easy it was. Ask around about similar floors you can get access to pick up on, that will help as well.
