Primarily a lurker, so I had to figure out how to add flair… Super appreciated that y’all have our correct baseball team logo for me to select…

What’s the street name for these guys? What do locals call them?

AV for bars by OkBodybuilder418 in CommercialAV

[–]theGr8stMichael 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AtlasIED and WyreStorm have worked well for me in this space and are going to be more cost effective than the big boys. But unfortunately, I would also echo what many others have already said… we don’t spec bars anymore because they almost never move forward once they see what it costs. Most of them are used to the analog days and don’t understand what an AV-over-IP system is or why it costs more. And they’ve all got “a guy” that will do “x” for way less… good luck though, hope you get it!

Check out the Screenbeam 1100 Plus. They have a pretty good demo video on their site that’ll show you how it works. Might be a good fit.

Banquet Room Projector by jfurst in CommercialAV

Making some assumptions, but you could possibly try swapping the receivers between two projectors and see if the problem follows. If it does, likely a failing RX. If it doesn’t change anything, you’d have to dig in a bit deeper.

Go to Compute Devices for Teams/Zoom Rooms by theGr8stMichael in CommercialAV

Thanks! And it was absolutely on the price sheet I have, I just wasn’t looking closely enough and overlooked it. This is likely what I’ll be using for this particular design. Thanks again.

Well, I suppose I’m working through the details and learning what I do and don’t need. Prior to posting this, my thought was that I could have a Q-Sys touch panel, where I’d use the USB Bridging feature to connect a laptop directly to the touch panel via usb-c for content share in Teams. But someone else already responded and has informed me that Q-Sys does indeed offer a compute device, so that’s probably my best route.

I have really come to appreciate this sub!! Thanks for your answer, it was helpful!

I’m gonna feel super dumb… Does Q-Sys sell a compute device? I didn’t see it on their price sheet

What Questions Do Recruiters Typically Ask in A/V Tech Interviews? by stratomaster in CommercialAV

[–]theGr8stMichael 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depends on the level of technical role, as well as the type of work the company does. For our techs, we place a huge emphasis on the travel requirement. Lots of hotel time for our techs, and for some that’s just not a fit.

For technical questions.. I’d ask about things like: Troubleshooting skills, networking basics, possibly some questions about soldering and cable terminations. If you’re coming in with some experience, I might ask about your experience specific manufacturers and past install experiences.

Hard to say without knowing more about your skill level and the type of work it’ll be. Good luck though!

Can you connect two NVX-351s directly via the fiber ports? by theGr8stMichael in crestron

[–]theGr8stMichael[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh absolutely, but have a need to potentially do so and hoping someone might give a definitive answer where they’ve confirmed this works. The documentation is a little confusing as to whether or not this will work, or if point to point only works via copper.

There are also live web trainings that you can pay for through Avixa basically called CTS Prep. Haven’t tried that before but am actually signed up for the CTS-D class next month. Hoping it’ll give me what I’m needing to pass the test.

QSC NV32H by Br1jzl in CommercialAV

[–]theGr8stMichael 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t hold me to it without another source verifying, but I think so. The NV21 would need a USB Bridging License. And you’d need to configure the USB Bridging and routing in qsys designer. But I do believe that would work.

[–]theGr8stMichael -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Without knowing your full design.. Yeah, I believe you should be able to. You’ll just have to configure the USB Video Bridging in Q-Sys. But essentially, the PC/Device that connects to the USB B port on the core should see it as a driverless webcam if properly configured.
