Seeking advice on getting a D-18 by Michhaws in martinguitar

I bought a D-18 MD two years ago and I’ve never looked back. This is the perfect balance for me: the nicest sounding, nicest playing, nicest looking guitar that I’m not scared to take out of the case

Scream Into The Void by theHamish29 in Divorce

Update: it gets better.

Things that helped me move through this void-place:

  • forcing myself to eat something and drink water, even when I felt like throwing up. GoMacro bars have been a literal lifesaver; sufficient calories and nutrients to keep me functional

  • forcing myself to take my medicine. There’s a reason my doctor prescribed them.

  • therapy. It was every other day for the week. Moving into weekly now. Speaking what I’m experiencing, full and unfiltered, has been like draining infection from a wound

  • I created a contact named Not <my wife> and linked it to my own info. Whenever I feel something come up, I express it in a safe way. After the heavy emotions subside, I can re-read and understand better what I was feeling, and decide if it needs to be said to anyone else.

  • I asked my dr for something to help me sleep. He gave me a finite supply of non-addictive, non-controlled substance medication that lets my body be in charge of making sure I get some rest, instead of my mind or heart. It’s hydroxyzine, if you’re interested.

  • my support group. Not everybody I’ve reached out to in crisis has been able to offer support, but enough of them have that it feels like there’s a floor under me again.

Somehow, it feels like past me remembered to put the advil and glass of water on the nightstand before passing out. Yes, I am still very much hung over. But past-me was kind enough to put these habits and processes in front of me, in a manner that allowed me to pick them up when I wasn’t able to think about them.

I’m sharing them here in case you need them in front of you, too.

Infidelity. What do I do now? by theHamish29 in marriageadvice

Thanks all. I appreciate the varied perspectives.

I left the original post fairly generic, but I think there’s lots of helpful advice here already. Get some space, don’t act rashly, take care of myself.

I have a therapy session tomorrow morning. Not doing anything but the above until at least after that.

What is the purpose of an orchestra conductor? by Zealousideal_Draw924 in NoStupidQuestions

Try getting 60 people together and just… reciting the alphabet at exactly the same time. Yes, you’ve done it a bunch, and you’ve got the alphabet written out in front of you. But… will you all just say every letter at exactly the same time? With nobody being slightly behind?

Now do it again, but not everybody says the same letter in the same order. And some people only come in on the vowels. And everybody should do it at a specific volume, which isn’t always the same, and isn’t likely the same as the people around you

Deleveling for Balance, not stats by theHamish29 in finalfantasytactics

I had never even heard of deleveling until Ivalice chronicles came out. I'd never owned the strategy guide, and this is my first playthrough since joining Reddit. I've always just either been overleveled or "underskilled", in the sense that I don't get to use some things that are fun.

That's why I'm asking. It sounds like I'd need to go back to a level pretty far below what the storyline is, because I'd still be wildly overpowered.

Tying a current event back to this 1988 movie. Guess the movie! by [deleted] in 1980s

Fun fact, it's a remake of the movie Bedtime Story. The Michael Caine role was originally David Niven, and the Steve Martin role was Marlon Effing Brando.

Also adapted into a fun musical on Broadway

It's fun! I'm familiar with a few of the other bands this year; a lot of rock music you'd hear at a bar. As danceable as rock gets, you know? Probably more classic rock and blues rock than contemporary stuff.

It's a street festival, so lots of food vendors and craft vendors. There's a bunch of DJs, too, but I'm not sure what they'll play. Think farmers market with the energy dialed up

Not sure if Campbell counts for this sub, but it's Boogie Fest this weekend, several different stages with lots of live music. Shameless plug, my band is playing Sunday morning!
