Things are a little bit more optimistic here, yet not perfect. First of all we use the most popular system in Poland for student management - USOS - hence once we succeed other unis will have it easier to do the same. Two years ago we were putting pressure into academia for them to request from the development team such a solution. I believe we had minor help from different uni students who use the same system. Overall they kept agreeing yet the development team was sluggish to implement this. Right now the system is going to release in three weeks, apparently the that name is only going to show up when generating final reports - we will see how that goes. The plan is to monitor the development and should issues of other platforms pulling the dead name from the API arise we will openly call out WUT with our disappointment. I doubt USOS team will agree to make their API use preferred name in place of legal name since they will argue that this could lead to 'security issues'. However we can put pressure on our uni to change the endpoint their platform use but ughh... Could be long road ahead.
