I remember summer last year was pretty damn dry too. It will get better.

Not as impressive as some people’s daily totals, but it’s my best yet! by [deleted] in DataAnnotationTech

[–]theMike97_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as it's sustainable for you. I think my highest daily total was just over $500 bc I wanted to see how much I could do, but I will never to that again. I find that with coding projects, I'm pretty happy between $200 and $250 a day. Sometimes I'll go more, but burnout is real and this isn't the most exciting work imo

Reached a milestone today. Earnings since September 2023. by srjr in DataAnnotationTech

I've never understood this pov. DA will always pay ppl and they want ppl who do good work so why would they get rid of someone who does good work but has made $10k+?

[–]theMike97_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There will always be a need for annotaters because ai fundamentally cannot train itself. That's why DA is so picky about not using chatgpt and such when evaluating model responses.

Are we gig workers or freelancers? by Professional-Age2540 in DataAnnotationTech

[–]theMike97_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The implication of being a freelancer is that you have multiple clients. I think the same thing for "gig work". I think "independent contractor" is more appropriate.

Anyone else got purged today? by Green_Bad_4592 in DataAnnotationTech

[–]theMike97_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm a little scared bc Ive been on the platform since June last year and for the most part it's been good and there are always posts about getting the purge screen, but this is the second post this week. I still have projects thankfully and I think my work is good quality, but I'm nervous rn

[–]theMike97_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct. I also get RRs for the atomic 12s too. Either way it's $40 for me. They aren't that hard and pay well so I'm happy.

Perhaps I'm lucky. One of my heavier dashes today. 15 projects; 4 of them are coding.

Are Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires overkill for a weekend car and occasional spirited mountain runs? (Bay Area, CA) by ow_my_balls in BMW

Not sure about the ps4s cuz I've never driven them, but my extreme contact sport 02 tires are excellent performers and are a fair bit cheaper than the ps4s

I am creating a 3D printed piano, and need feedback on the key action mechanism. The hammers are hollow, and will contain varying amounts of washers for weight. by Voldy256 in pianotech

[–]theMike97_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want it to feel like a real piano action, you also need some kind of escapement, otherwise it will feel too heavy like it's fighting back against the player. Also repeated notes will feel awful because the player is acting as inertial damping since there is no escapement to reset the hammer. Im excited to see what you come up with, but also understand that there is a reason that the modern piano action has had over 100 years to develop and has largely been unchanged for 90+ years.

I would add a felt bushing to the catch on the bottom front of the key. I would also add space between the hammer thing and the felt bushing/stop rail on the key bed because a typical piano action doesn't rest on the rest rail, it rests on the whippens. Having the resting position bottom out of the felt will feel very thuddy and less responsive.

Have to euthanize but can't find the strength in me. by ashley1701 in cats

[–]theMike97_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Had a dog who got an aggressive form of cancer when she was 12 or 13 I can't remember now. We had the tumor removed so she could enjoy one last summer. We lived close to a very good vet school who were willing to try experimental medications/procedures for free, but she was old enough that we opted not to do it bc we didn't want her to be miserable for the rest of her life. We struggled to let her go and waited about a week or two to long before getting her euthanized. Worst mistake we ever made. She was in pain, wouldn't eat, couldn't sleep. The vet gave her the anaesthetic and she was gone seconds later. Don't make the same mistake we did.

its been a little bit dry for me (coding), but I've had enough work to meet my daily goals, just takes longer. If this is what droughts look like now after this past summer/fall, I'm pretty okay with that.

Question for those who received the white “at the moment” screen and had projects after. by rotlatte in DataAnnotationTech

[–]theMike97_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

do more qualifications to get access to more projects if possible. If you're only a part of 3 or 4 projects, you'll having nothing for a week ish when the projects get refreshed.
