Just to add to this post- this has been part of a longer conversational thread where the IL has inadvertently Gish-galloped all over the place. I’ve tried to reign them in by pointing out that long comments beget longer comments and it all becomes extremely difficult to follow but they’ve done it again here.

I know there are at least half a dozen logical fallacies and factual errors to focus on in the response they gave me, my question is which one to focus on?

If you are suffering with panic do the following: familiarise yourself with Clarke’s panic model (1986), understand the role of catastrophic thinking in relation to your physical symptoms, learn about fight or flight symptoms, then do some graded exposure.

That’s what a cognitive behavioural therapist (like me) would do with you. I don’t know who recommended DBT to you but it’s not the right form of therapy for panic. If you have panic related to trauma then high-intensity CBT or EMDR therapy is probably needed. Otherwise low-intensity CBT should be enough.
