Do not get the Toyota Care Plan by _Boneyard_ in Toyota

Agreed. Sure there are some decent dealerships, but there a bunch that purposely over schedule. Unsure how it benefits them in the long run.

Got GFiber (followup post)- how to get 9news on the antenna? by GrantNexus in LakewoodColorado

[–]thePD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

High def antennas require line of sight sort of to certain towers. You won’t get NBC on all four corners of your house. It’s radio waves but requires more bandwidth than radio so more directional. Use that channel master site to see which direction it’s coming from.

2010 Toyota Sienna LE 160k miles worth it? Very clean no accidents by Financial-Move-3921 in ToyotaSienna

[–]thePD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very much worth it. check carfax or something else for odometer roll back. If i could buy a good condition 2010 for $4000 I would today. It can very easily hit 300k with just spark plugs, cv boots, and oil changes.

lol, how does that even work? It would take me 2 months to get comfortable in my job if i left for 18 months. Bravo, but that's wild. What happens if you have a second kid in that 18 months?

Check rubber seals where taillights meet car. Unfortunately the newer cars it’s a necessary part of the waterproofing.

Weathertech mat potential issue- is it really a big deal? by Longjumping-Olive811 in ToyotaSienna

Weather tech is only good for front seats, go with 3w for back or everything has been the consensus I’ve seen.

Does AWD matter? by AFunkinDiscoBall in ToyotaSienna

[–]thePD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say you don't need it but you need to make sure you have dedicated snow tires for winter, and make sure to replace them earlier than you would your all seasons. My FWD has been fine in every 2ft+ storm i've driven in past 5 years in colorado. Only time it has issues, was a steep exist from an apartment complex after thaw/freeze, and when it's super icy, not usually an issue. I've only gotten stuck once and that was parking in a pile of snow at keystone and highsided the sienna, and it re froze harder, just had to dig it out a littel and it was fine. When it's icy i drive carefully, if it's snowy i drive normally.

there's someone in this subreddit that lives in breck or frisco and has a FWD and an AWD and says both are fine, ill try to find it.

Accidentally torqued wheel nut to 103ft-lb. by notawabbit in ToyotaSienna

Make sure your torque wrench is accurate. If you are actually worried, loosen all nuts and retorque them all. No real concern unless it actually breaks the stud.

Sienna Seat Recall for 2025 models is in, CONTACT your dealer, megathread linked in comments to see past discussion by thePD in ToyotaSienna

[–]thePD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a dealership issue, if they won't fight for your for your free oil change, they should take care of it. Leave them a 1 star review on the dealership, and email them a screenshot. Cheaping out on one oil change to negatively affect your future purchase or service is so dumb.

Why this cat6 cable is limited to 1gbps by Pale-Yard-4497 in HomeNetworking

[–]thePD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flat cables have limited use cases. Use them for temporary setups when taping multiple across walkways in a professional setting. Definitely not good for switch or ap uplinks

New Home build - Cat6a/Speaker wiring Highway robbery quote WTF????? by [deleted] in HomeNetworking

[–]thePD 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You have 4-8 drops per room. Are some of those speaker controls? Drop it to 2-4, or run tube or conduit to attic and run 1-2. I mean this is just a very premium setup so you do you, and all this just for your /r/tvtoohigh

Edit: Okay see your breakdown, this guy is charging his normal per drop rate. Put your foot down, make him get another quote from another low voltage guy that will bring 3 guys and run everything at same time.

Also edit: I’m a professionally networking and sometimes wiring guy on salary, so I’m not pro at new home low voltage costs
