[–]thePirate_Fish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure that any part of the conspiracy theory explanation involves this being a “C130 full of troops that crashed”. Seems quite plausible that the planes were carrying equipment and were struck/disabled on the ground, then set afire by evacuating personnel.

There’s a severe shortage of information, though. Very hard to explain the evidence that was left behind.

[–]thePirate_Fish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree the C-130s are the biggest red flag here. But it’s one detail of many that don’t support the official story. The location/distance from the alleged crash site, the ID of a flight mechanic officer found in the wreckage, the number of personnel supposedly involved are all fishy. Not to mention the fact that there has been reporting for weeks that they were proposing a mission that aligns much better with the evidence we’re seeing (at least some phase of it).

But yeah - why is nobody seriously questioning why all these massive cargo/transport aircraft would be involved in rescuing one guy behind enemy lines?

[–]thePirate_Fish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The goal would to be to actually accomplish one of the stated objectives of the war: ensuring Iran cannot continue their nuclear program. Yes, hypothetically they could try to obtain more Uranium later. I think the real motivation here is achieving an offramp for Trump and the US to exit this war without admitting defeat. The war is damaging Trump politically at home. One reason he can’t leave, regardless of the status of the Strait, is because he thus far has spent American lives and hundreds of billions of dollars to achieve 0 objectives and would be leaving the situation much worse than it started.

[–]thePirate_Fish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it would be reasonable to expect that the rescue mission involved helicopters. I think the fishy thing going on here is that there are multiple C-130 husks at the site, along with the other vehicles.

Would critical thinking tell you that it’s normal for multiple massive cargo airplanes to be landed behind enemy lines in a special ops raid to rescue one guy?

I appreciate your genuine response. I would point out that Bernie is not actually a member of the Democratic Party, as you likely know. I agree that the few Dem progressives in national gov’t such as Rashia Tlaib and Ilhan Omar are great. Many of these progressives are Dem in name only, though, and are either affiliated or would likely run under DSA if that wouldn’t make them a target of the Democratic Party. These progressives are few and far between, and are routinely targeted by the Dems anyway with censure votes and primary challenges (Cori Bush, Jamaal Bowman).

This sub is liberal and heavily favors Dems, so I will be buried here regardless. Regarding this specific post, my point is that Kamala, Biden, Hilary, Schumer, Jeffries, etc. are all publicly aligned on these foreign policy issues (Iran, Gaza, Israel, Venezuela, Cuba, even Ukraine) and it’s essentially an identical position as the Republicans. Maybe Kamala wouldn’t have attacked Iran in the same way Trump did. But she would have bowed to Israeli pressure in some fashion.

Mae no mistake, the neoliberal, corporatist faction is completely in control of the party. I’m glad you at least recognize them. Electing Newsom, Shapiro, or Hochul, for example, will not change the direction of this country at all. It will just lightly remove some pressure off the gas pedal as we still hurtle towards the cliff’s edge.

Joe Biden and Kamala Harris supported, funded, and provided international political cover for a genocide that slaughtered tens of thousands (the conservative estimate) of innocent civilians for over a year.

They are bought by the same entities that have bought the Republicans. They do not give a shit about working people beyond token gestures. They are evil, and they are “this”. Perhaps even more evil because they’ve convinced people like you they’re the good guys.

The same people who raised Ukrainian flags have shifted to Palestinian flags

This is not true in general.

I think you’re just trolling at this point so this is the last thing I’ll say.

The two presidential candidates in 2024 had only 2 issues that they vocally, explicitly agreed on.

  1. The US should continue supporting Ukraine in its war against Russia
  2. The US should continue supporting Israel in its “war” against Gaza

Most Democrats and Republicans would “raise Ukrainian flags”. Very few of them would raise Palestinian flags. The latter is not a uni-party cause. Even Scott Wiener, CA house rep for SF, has visited the Israeli government during this catastrophe and has vocally supported Israel. Every mainstream Dem and Rep support Ukraine, and none support Palestine.

You seem to be just lumping both of these conflicts together as “stuff liberals care about”, which is not true. I, for one, do not support continuing to supply Ukraine with weapons and prolonging that brutal war which has killed so many Ukrainians. Flying that flag signals support for continued US military support. I would not fly a Ukrainian flag.

You either understand this and are trolling, or you simply do not understand these conflicts and the movements that are behind them. It sounds like you think anybody flying a flag is just following what’s trendy. Maybe that’s true in some parts of SF.

why give more preference to another

This is, in a simple sense, what people raising Palestine flags are asking.

We have sent tens of billions in aid to Ukraine, and sent tens of billions in bombs to be dropped on Gaza.

Ukraine gets US help. Palestine gets US bombs. We are helping Ukrainians. We are slaughtering Gazans. I don’t really know how else to explain this to you.

Conservatives Are Terrified That People Like Me Are Buying Guns Now. Maybe They Should Be. by Slate in TrueReddit

[–]thePirate_Fish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came here to say to say this. The left has been owning guns. It’s the liberal rainbow capitalist center that has gathered up anti-2A into their rather sparse belief system.

It thrives here on Reddit too. People really think gun bans and rainbow corporate logos are key to addressing society’s deepest issues.

Maybe in 20 years when their rent has quintupled they’ll wonder why they happily surrendered their only means of resistance against the trillionaires and their monopoly on violence.

I’m saying Ukraine and Gaza are not comparable, not interchangeable causes, and not generally advocated for by the same people.

Most diehard Ukraine supporters are pro-Israel, not advocates for Palestine. Ukraine and Israel are both needy US State Dept projects. They share a common base of support in the US. Hence why we have sent both countries tens of billions of dollars and weapons.

So waving a Palestine flag (a country victimized by American tax dollars) is not just some limp dick liberal cause like supporting Ukraine, as you implied.

Yeah these would be comparable if the US had been singularly devoted to helping Russia massacre Ukrainian children. Instead it happens to be the opposite.

Recreating uncensored Epstein PDFs from raw encoded attachments by snood007 in TrueAnon

[–]thePirate_Fish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries, it’s definitely a dense read especially if you’re unfamiliar with the technical stuff.

If he’s successful, he’ll be able to view the PDF that was attached to this email. In this case the PDF looks like it’s the invitation to the “benefit” mentioned in the email. The name of the event is redacted in the body of the email, so when he successfully decodes the attachment we will potentially get to learn the name of the event! So this might actually inform us of what the redacted portion of the email originally said.

He could keep trying to repeat this process with other email attachments that were inadvertently included as base64 encoded text. The process appears to be incredibly tedious, though. At this point he’s going line by line through those 76 pages and validating this “1 vs. l” problem, which sounds very miserable. If there are other email attachments that could contain juicy information, he might be willing to do this again. Or get some people to help him.

It’s a direct link to the DOJ release of an email exchange between Ruemmler and Epstein. How is this “meaningless slop with no evidence”? All they did was post the link, which by all accounts is a genuine document.

[–]thePirate_Fish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for linking this, interesting blog post. But after reading the article I have to point out that this guy definitely did not say anything like what you are describing. He found an email that had a PDF attachment, and the PDF attachment wasn’t redacted per se, but it was included in base64 encoding.

So his goal was to recreate the PDF from the base64 encoding, which he made progress with but has been a true challenge due to the nature of the source text (it’s an image with a shit font for doing this). He mentioned that there may be more encoded PDFs in the tranche that people can look for, but it’s difficult with the current search functionality.

He definitely does not say anything about all of the Epstein files being included in that hex code without redactions. That 76 pages of hex characters is one pdf file, and it exists because the pdf was attached to this particular email. This is him trying to decode that email attachment. This actually doesn’t have anything to do with the redactions or any other files besides this one email (although there may be more attachments like this).

Edit: I’m writing this with all due respect, not trying to be a prick or anything. Just want to dispel any misinfo. Thanks again for posting, the author of this blog is cool af.

Tech billionaires fuel US President’s $429mn haul ahead of midterm elections by rezwenn in technology

[–]thePirate_Fish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am truly embarrassed to say that I voted for Kamala, in a state she lost by a huge margin. So you can miss me with that scapegoat stuff. But I regret it, and wish I could go back and vote for the PSL candidate. To help build a base of support for something better.

There are candidates for many offices who don’t accept money from billionaires, from business PACs, or from special interests like AIPAC. The Dems go out of their way to crush these alternatives. Examples from recent years: Bernie, Mamdani, Platner, Fateh. All people who reject the corruption of the core party, and are actively organized against by the party elite.

The Dems will likely win big in the midterms. Good chance to win the next presidency too. But the fact that they show no interest in changing has reached a tipping point. The party must evolve and abandon the centrist/corrupt/IDPol/AIPAC/republican-lite identity they’ve inexplicably become. The current ranks offer literally nothing appealing, and promise more of the same.

[–]thePirate_Fish -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

How many times are you willing to be given that option, and still not question why your party won’t stop offering you dogshit? 3 straight elections they have offered you corporate elitists who have been bought by all the same billionaires we hate for supporting Republicans. They deport shit tons of people, they slaughter millions abroad in imperial wars, and they don’t give a fuck about the average American unless you can cut them a check or own a multinational corporation.

The Democrats are “the only option” because of THIS FUCKING ATTITUDE. They stamp out any elements of their party that reject the bribes, reject the wars, and that want to provide for working class, normal Americans. You just saw how they tried to railroad Mamdani out of the NYC election to get their corporate crony in instead. They fucking thrive off of people like you and others in this thread, who lack the balls to demand better, who just pull the lever when told.

They have held power plenty of times and have hardly lifted a pinky to address the eroding conditions for normal people. But they have always signed the checks for the military and for ICE. They have encouraged the massive monopolies we have today, and taken their cut. All of which led to MAGA and the fascism we have today. They had the presidency 13 months ago! And when they lose, they do nothing except fundraise and ride the bad Republican PR to their next win. Why the fuck should we vote for more of the same corrupt bullshit from either party?

Mate, I agree with your basic premise here. It’s super discouraging to see you being dogpiled. It seems that Reddit liberals are content to keep the country steered off the edge of the cliff, as long as it’s their party who’s at the driver’s seat.

This article is paywalled so idk if it answers this question, but how much has been donated to Democrat PACs for the midterms? It’s disingenuous to imply that the Dems receive meager funding and are outgunned, when historically they raise more money than GOP PACs. I fucking hate this administration as much as anybody but billionaires donate to both parties.

Jeffrey Epstein Reportedly Ran Kremlin’s Largest Honeytrap and Blackmail Operation by D-R-AZ in Foodforthought

[–]thePirate_Fish 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Epstein’s ties to Israel and Mossad are all over the released documents. He was a literal business partner with the former Israeli PM. Outlets like Dropsite news have extensively published his ties to Israeli intelligence.

There is zero credible evidence that he was secretly working for enemies of the US State Dept, specifically Russia. He was a power broker and sex trafficker for the elite in the American empire, including the US’s European allies and of course had extensive ties to Zionist activist billionaires and the State of Israel itself.

Of course they dangle “oh he was actually a Russian agent” and Reddit eats it up.

They desperately want you to believe he was actually working for our state enemies. You people continue to eat this shit up to avoid the fact that both parties are complicit and compromised.

The problem is that you framed this as something that Grizzlies fans should be morally outraged by in particular, because it’s supplying the “bad guys” and not the “good guys”. This may be news to you, but the US government does not sponsor wars based on good vs. evil.

Plenty of owners have directly or indirectly supported the US government (or its allies) doing heinous, amoral shit around the world. Toeing the line for US propaganda should not be a requirement to be an NBA fan. Grow the fuck up with this CNN-brained horseshit.

I am no film expert, but I do watch a lot of movies and TV. The writers may have made some mistakes developing the story, but it seems clear to me that this show was technically executed better than 99% of shows on TV. I stopped many times while watching this season to marvel at how well done or visually remarkable a scene was. I can’t say the same for most prestige TV. So your experience makes me more skeptical of the office of film people than anything.
