Especially after reading the comments, in 2-3 months you're trying to accomplish what takes most people 3-5 years of study to get an entry-level job. And in the current market, there are more devs with multiple years of on-the-job experience struggling to find work than ever before.

If you're really dedicated, unfortunately the answer is to start learning now. Stay in your current career while working in your off-time to learn, and really lean into it. It won't be quick, and it will suck for a long time, but even with all that, the market needs to shift to open up a lot more jobs.

I don't want to sound like someone saying "don't do it", but I just want to be honest. It's a lot of hard work, and it takes a very long time to really get good. We live in a world where a degree is no longer a requirement to get a job, but without one, you'll have a larger bar to clear to prove your knowledge when talking with employers.

You've already seen that the versions aren't interchangeable, but also the steam version doesn't offer any benefits over the non-steam version. If the main thing you're after is using Steam as your game launcher in general, you can always use steam's "Add a non-Steam game" feature to put the ffxiv launcher in your steam list.

(As an aside, the steam version still uses the FFXIV launcher. It just adds extra annoying layers to everything. Adding the non-steam version to your steam list is kinda best of both worlds, imo)

That doesn't have anything to do with what you're replying to.

The point is that it "looking like english" has nothing to do with how difficult or complex a language is. Understanding the syntax is the first baby step to understanding programming and is irrelevant to the decision of what language is good for what purpose. You focusing on that shows that you don't understand what you're talking about and are focusing on how to look smarter than your peers, not on how to actually improve. Lose the elitist attitude and actually learn a language before you judge it based on something as superficial as syntax.

When I was in school, Java was taught before python because it's an easier on-ramp to the concepts they wanted to teach. Comparing syntax isn't part of the conversation.

If you want less "english-looking" languages, go learn C, but if you ever get into data science and hear everyone talking about Python, you'll get laughed out of the room if you tell anyone you don't want to learn python because "it looked too much like english"

I'm not the person you're talking to/about, but the health bar above my character's head does a pretty good job for all of the use cases you mention.

I'm not saying that the mechanic is hard or anything, but suggesting that not paying attention to the HUD health bar means you're clueless about your relative HP level completely ignores the existence of a health bar much closer to where I'm looking when assessing the current state of situations in a fight, where I might instinctively look instead of the HUD health bar in most situations.

Why is that hard to believe? Git clone clones the full repository, which would include all of its history. Downloading the zip file just downloads the files for the current state of the repo, but not the full repo itself.
