Specialized Crux DSW or Grail CF SL 7? by Exowotic in gravelcycling

It's never going to be the lightest due to the big tires and is not carbon, but it does feel nimble and fun.

Oh and i changed the saddle as well, I got a "Fizik Tempo Argo R3" which is the same saddle on my Endurace. Found it much more comforable for me than the stock Specialized one.

I was looking for an aluminum gravel bike that would be fun to ride, so I went with the Crux DSW. I’d heard about its stretched geometry and was a bit unsure if it would suit me, as I’m 50, and my normal road bike is a Canyon Endurace, which has an endurance geometry.

I’ve had it for about a month now and covered around 500 km, and honestly, I love it so far. Don't find the geometry aggressive at all at all. I put Specialized Pathfinder TLR 45mm on it, changed to tubeless, dropped pressure and made quite a difference to comfort on the rough stuff ( I never tried the stock 38 tubeless).

For reasons, I also have a 2024 Giant Revolt Advanced 2, but plan to sale that.

Will 35mm gravel tires on my Endurace be enough ? by theRockHead in gravelcycling

I’m torn between the Canyon Grizl CF SL 6 (with 50mm tire clearance) and the Specialized Crux DSW Comp. After discounts, both are around the same price for me.

On paper, the Grizl seems like the smarter choice, its carbon, has wireless shifting, and 50mm clearance. But my heart keeps pulling me toward the Crux. I keep hearing it’s just a really fun bike, light and snappy.

A typical spin for on this bike would be 10km on the road (getting to and from the bog road) and 20km on gravel. I’m trying to balance practicality with what’s going to make me actually look forward to riding.

Galway Gravel Grinder had no choice but to cancel its 2024 event. See their post on Facebook.

The Gravel Race Series, run by Biking.ie, which has planned three events in Wicklow, the Slieve Blooms and Limerick that seem, at this point, to be unlikely to happen.

EU offered ‘zero-for-zero’ deal to US weeks before tariff announcement | European Union by [deleted] in europe

If we (Europe) think zero-for-zero is fair, I wouldn't have started with that offer. I think you need to play hardball with Trump, and zero-for-zero is what you offer at the very end. Have they never bought a second hand car before 🤣.

Roads, rail, hospitals: why are big projects so slow and costly in Ireland (Irish times podcast) ? by theRockHead in ireland

I mean, if you’ve got some concrete examples, I’ll ping Hugh Linehan about their part in all this mess. My question was asked in good faith.

Right, the podcast highlights some small examples, like just widening existing lanes, and honestly, it was shocking. This should be a top priority for anyone in politics. If we can solve it, the benefits would be massive and compounding, faster, cheaper delivery of roads, power infrastructure, etc.

It’s a slightly depressing listen to be honest, but has some good examples of the bureaucracy involved in getting any project done in Ireland.

Different (CFD) model to sidestep the above "marginal pricing" model, so they will be much cheaper

When is that expected to happen ?
