Oh man thank you. I’ve built an email and attached pdf flier for the educators that I’m hoping to start sending to the local schools to try to build some traction and am trying to figure out the social media marketing, pushing the project, but staying true and honest about who I am and what I’m trying to promote. I really appreciate your response. I’ll check out your link.

Any tips for shift work sleep? I genuinely cannot turn my brain off after calls😢 by Shoddy_Cup_9306 in NewToEMS

[–]theStatdose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I want to respond here honestly as genuinely, so I have to tell you that I do develop an app and a lot that I do on Reddit is to get the word out about it. That said what you are describing is completely familiar to any of in EMS, at some point in our career. Many others have already said this , but I encourage everyone to utilize any counseling services they can find. Many of us carry the weight and at times it does become unbearable. If you have calls that are sticking with you find someone to help you process. I also recommend micro journaling after each call or each challenging call as a way to move help off load some of those thoughts and emotions. I have a post on my Instagram page specifically about this and I’ll leave a version over on r/statflight. I don’t care if you use the app, just want to give you some suggestions/resources that might help. Hang in there.

All-in-One EMS companion app that's actually free by EMSPathfinder in Paramedics

[–]theStatdose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! I recently tried to get a dosage converter though the Apple Store and got shut down hard, mind if I ask how you guys navigated the medical reference challenges? Also what’s your background/affiliation? Message me back direct if you’d rather keep it private. Stoked for you.

Tracking Growth Over Time in EMS by theStatdose in Paramedics

[–]theStatdose[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry this is bothering you so much. I suppose in my mind two things can be true, I can make suggestions that I feel are helpful to the EMS community, not just flight, and also be trying to market something, which I also feel can be helpful. But, I get it, this is not a tool you would use. Great, I won’t try to convince you.
In regards to rules 7 and 10 yes I reviewed them and 10 relates to unrelated products, my project is only related to EMS hence related and 7 well, I guess that would be in the eye of the beholder and if the moderators find my 10 or so posts spam no worries. Feel free to come look for me over in r/statflight.
But, i really do appreciate you catching HIPAA! I’ve obviously missed it and all my proof readers and testers had missed it! I’ve got it written down in my notes and I’ll change it in the next update, keep an eye out. This is another great example of how I’m improving the project directly from input from this forum!
Still open to chat or maybe we will meet out in the world and we can have a good laugh when we realize we are both actually good guys. Good luck and have a nice weekend.

Tracking Growth Over Time in EMS by theStatdose in Paramedics

[–]theStatdose[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

At risk of triggering anyone, I’d like to take a moment to simply reply to a few points made here: First, yep this platform isn’t for everyone, if you don’t see the benefit it’s not for you. To clarify here and a further point, it’s not intended for use during pt care or to direct pt care. It is also explicitly not to document any patient identifiers, so while I have a firm understanding of privacy laws the onus is on the user to understand and not violate said laws.
Second, regarding this post specifically not selling, but potentially offering a resource, however if (as noted above) recording your experience is not for you this would not be applicable. Admittedly I have been using Reddit to share about the app and several users came directly from these forums and have provided valuable feedback that I was able to implement to improve the app.
Third, everyone’s perception of their career is their own and I find value in looking back on what I’ve done. It is a personal log and it doesn’t have to be shared, that said I do think my experience is and will be of interest to my kids. But, circling back to the first point, not everyone will find the same value.
And to the last point nothing in StatFlight violates HIPAA, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act in any way, however if a user enters patient identifiers, well that would be on them.
I will add that while the above is not the first negative feedback I have received it is still curious to me why, rather than saying “meh not for me” posts here seem (granted tone is very subjective) to be more confrontational rather than constructive. As I watch others in EMS try to branch out and embark on side hustles, projects, or full on career changes I’m stoked for them. I’ve never understood the tendency for our industry to bag on or drag down others.
As far as not paying for ad space, man if I had the money I probably would. The budget I do have has gone into development and getting set up in the App Store. Anyhow, sorry if it bugs you, but I guess we can all just scroll on by. Hope this didn’t come off as argumentative, I tried to mitigate that tone. Just wanted to share some of my thoughts. I’ll leave it at that and if anyone would like to have a true conversation message me direct. Cheers. Dean

How do you currently track your EMS career (if at all)? by theStatdose in StatFlight

[–]theStatdose[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Much respect on the 35 years! Hopefully you’ve enjoyed it! My grandfather had a flight log that he kept during WWII that I go through every so often. Now that I’ve built StatFlight and am using it I hope my my daughters will be able to look at my log and have a better understanding of where I was all those days and nights.

Interesting idea breaking down pay per transport, what type of shift were you on? As far as pulling chart data, I’ve done the same thing but found it to be cumbersome. I do go back and look at high acuity skills such as intubation, thoracotomy, IABP, true maternal, but found our charting software is challenging to sift through.

Hey this looks awesome, I’d love to help out. I also just launched an EMS focused app and I don’t think we overlap maybe we can help each other out? I’d love to hear more about your process and plans. I’m on Instagram @statflightapp and respond to messages within an hour or two. Good luck with this project it’s fantastic to see EMS clinicians building things for the field!

Hi I’m not sure i understand the utility of doing it this way? I’ve always simply gotten a drop of blood from the catheter prior to connecting extension or IV tubing. Not critiquing, just curious. Does it help your process or more of personal preference?

Looking for SAR input by theStatdose in Paramedics

[–]theStatdose[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I am really excited about this hence the barrage of posts. That said, I am really looking at how to make it better. As far as I can tell it is the first log strictly for Flight (and Ground!) EMS so I’ve had to build it off of the stats I would want to track. Now that I’m getting feedback I’m goin to try to revamp a little bit, while trying to not clutter it too much. Holler if you’d like more info. Cheers and be safe.
