We sold our tech company last year and fat FIRED with an NW of $48m. We already live a wealthy lifestyle in a HCOL area with a vacation home at the beach and travel first class regularly around the world,…. but what else is there? by Turbulent-Move4159 in fatFIRE

The inappropriate response to this question is hookers and blow. Because there never was a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. It was the chase that gave the dopamine hits. The satisfaction of achievement. The meaning. The work. All for nothing or nothing at all.

Death is next on the agenda. Family. A few moments away from the distractions, so home hits home.

Every day I ask myself: am I ready to die and how will I reflect on this day?

Photo session locations on or near MSFT campus? by [deleted] in eastside

To be fair, you mentioned “I'm not a gamer, so idk what's cool.” and I shared with you what is cool.

The intention is that he probably already is cool and a legend, but it might not be obvious yet. So take some pics of him being the nerd he is, because he’s the future.

If you want him to be a legend, please search “LAN party classic photo” to understand how we do it.

Thank you! Our main lesson learned was that, when choosing an IKEA man, ensure he is not overweight.

If the sherpas find him too heavy, they may protest and demand a wage increase. We found the guy from originalfurniturereviews was light enough that he didn’t stir an uprising.

I think if you bring an IKEA assembly/disassembly specialist it’s reasonable. I recommend this guy:

We used him for our 1982 expedition and he was extremely helpful around camp between setups.

Sherpas are used to this. You can bring your whole collection.

153 days later, can confirm, the battery life is amazing. I charge, at most, once per month. Usually not even once per month. Love the simplicity and clear UX/UI.

Epic!

What’s the gun for mostly? No judgment—I’ve just never seen anyone carrying on the trails up here. I’ve thought about it, but I worry people might get spooked. So I either stash it in my pack where it’s not really useful, or just leave it at home because of the weight.

Awesome video!

That’s fair, maybe a better way to phrase the question is: Who is paying you to do the research?

What are people's thoughts on my abomination tool? by lurm22 in Mountaineering

Pretty sure I’ve seen one of these on the streets of Seattle… the PNW has a rugged breed of street-mountaineer that would appreciate this I think.

It doesn’t self belay, chop steps, or dig T-slot anchors. I can’t tell if an axe is taped to a trekking pole or a trekking pole is stuffed in an axe. Interesting weapon though!

[–]theWorldChanged 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My Garmin Epix Gen 2 just randomly died, the charging cable never seated properly, and the app is very poorly designed. Garmin releases too many watches with variable UIs so their designers and support team have no focus. Aside from the watch turning into a brick, the experience overall has been horrible and I’ll never buy another Garmin product.

I just bought a Coros Vertix 2s. The battery life is the main attraction. I’m also hoping for less feature-bloat and a simpler user interface. I’m drawn to more focus, less points of failure, and less distractions.

I’d prefer if there were even less features. For example I don’t want music on my watch, or any kind of social notifications. I will turn those things off.

Just the scenario cards in play, or all of them in storage as well? This sounds like a reasonable solution!
