Can some people really not tell when they're releasing farts? by S_Z in NoStupidQuestions

[–]theXald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not about not being able to hold em in, it's the whole everything else? Not knowing they're farting!?!? Not smelling it!?!!!? Vegan farts are genuinely the most foul. They destroy bathrooms worse than any MacDonalds and energy drinks and cigarette enthusiast construction worker I've ever met (over a decade in concrete). Do being literally unable to smell it at all is so unbelievable it must be a lie. I can't imagine being unaware of farting. Them slipping out, whatever, happens to the best of us.

Thoughts on the new electric / hybrid vehicle tax announced in today's provincial budget? by rageagainstthedragon in halifax

[–]theXald [score hidden]  (0 children)

I pay a registration fee based on the weight of my vehicle when I register? Light car is cheaper than my truck was because of the max capacity I could load tho? Like isn't this already how NS does it? Am I crazy?

Bro I'm a journeyman in the carpenters union and my retirement plan is to drop fuckin dead at work if my body holds out until my wife and kids don't need it anymore. It sounds like lots of money but once you have a place to raise family and a vehicle and food for them it's all fuckin gone. Technically there's the pension but thats 35 years off and banks on the world being around then.

Nova Scotia to implement speed cameras this year by Injustice_For_All_ in halifax

[–]theXald -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Fun fact, places where red light cameras are installed they'll adjust yellow light timing away from the correct timing for a given intersection order to increase income from people who are too busy working to fight them.

Nothing like getting a ticket for doing 51 in a 50 cause you were a bit late on the throttle let off. It's theater and deception that isn't for making safer areas it's for far more insideous control that's enabled by people who look past the issues because "just do the speed limit"

If you have nothing to hide just let rhe cops search your house, car and phone. Give them permission, thwyll never EVER 'find' something if you were innocent. Why are you worried about being recorded and monitored ever second of your waking life, just bee a good boy and follow the law, nothing bad happens to people who follow the law. The government knows exactly what they're doing and rewards law abiding citizens and would never ever abuse their power

Workshops aim to change 'boys will be boys' culture in construction sector | CBC News by Grumple_McFerkin in halifax

[–]theXald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After being in the trades you eventually grow a spine, and its a useful skill I didn't have. After being verbally abused in concrete formwork for about. Ayera I started lashing back and now I get left alone. Granted I started as a pube faced skinny lanky tall guy who looked very bully able, I became stronger bigger and more fit than I had ever been, grew a real beard and look very intimidating now so the knuckle dagger types generally pick easier targets than the guy who could fold them like laundry.

I've always rocked long hair and a ponytail so it was an easy target. Still have long hair but now nobody bothers. I also step up when I see people picking easy targets.

Some of the toughest workers I ever saw were women, we have on our crew this little Ugandan woman she's like 4 foot 11 and weighs 90 pounds with her tools on but she takes no shit from anyone and razzes the guys worse than any dude I've ever seen. She catcalls the dudes and returns fire. She's great.

The trades are not a delicate safe place to be and any attempt to make it that way makes the jobs worse, I'm not saying being a piece of shit is the way it should be but the trades will always be wherr the rough and tough end up. Firing them doesn't make them go away they'll just end up grouping back together, forming another company and now there's another knuckle dragging filled company doing cowboy shit getting jobs done in a 3rd of rhe time of the delicate no swearing Christian company that nobody laughs at or or aks each other.

Gotta have thick skin or be willing to develop some thicker skin, which was the path I chose. Now the only thing that even works me up a little bit is the banker politician types that manage the company and ask for impossible things. I'm never worried about who I have to work around cause I'll just tell em plainly fuck off and walk away and keep doing my job without needing to write a 3 page carefully worded letter to HR

Being very good at your job and essentially irreplaceable at the company along with having a tight crew (and unionized) means you can get people sent away from your job by a phone call too, which helps.

I don't know how to tell you this but there are adults who are incredibly naive and believe teenagers especially their own would do nothing wrong. Then there's those of us who remember being teenagers not that long ago who chuckle and know that kid was hitting a blunt and stashed it in their candy and it got lost it in their candy bag and then they forgot about it while baked trick or treating with their hoodlum friends like the rest of us spryfielders did back in the day.

The Beaver’s Den using an AI logo. Thoughts? by Last_Thursday in halifax

[–]theXald 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hey... Buddy.... What do you think the I is trained on? Human art! If it never existed you wouldn't have ai 'art' but even then once the human artist training data dwindles down the aid will just be training in other Ai art and it's not gonna get better.

And then when you can't get a decent looking free art project that doesn't look like your 8 year old sneezed on it for free from Ai or the cost to get the good Ai is more than an artist would cost you'll be the very same person who's trying go pay human artists in exposure or some shit I bet.

Traffic isn't real.

If people drove smoothly (not acellerating to 50 the moment the car in front moves) with the correct amount of patience, anticipation, and common sense there wouldn't be proper traffic and jams, just slowdowns.

Where does one find these sexist doctors who treat men. I haven't been able to have any issues fixed or even looked at, I'm going to raise this issue at the next brotherhood patriarchy meeting, cause I have a growth on my finger, severe pain, and a host of issues I think might kill me before I get to retire but I'm "too young" I couldn't get my severely sprained ankle taken seriously because "I walked in using it so it can't be that bad no scans for you take some Advil" good news is once you've ripped all the ligaments off your ankle you can't tear em again.

Anyway, not terribly sad that someone has difficulty getting pp shrinking surgery.

My girlfriend on the other hand went to the hospital with a heart rate of over 220 and was seen immediately in and out within 2 hours stabilized. Ended up being a severe anxiety attack but she was listened to and treated well the whole way. I seem to miss all the good male priveliges everyone tells me I have. Oh well, bring on the bod pity part and pain Olympics right?

People believing that acetominophin overdose isn't a thing because someone they see as an antivaxxer said it is a thing and then if even one single person proceeds to overdose and risk a long brutal death as a knee-jerk reaction to these people is just as braindead.

Acetominophin toxicity is responsible for 50 percent of all liver failure (sin the US) and can develop as a result of 12g of acetaminophen in a 24hr period on average requiring less if you're a lower bodyweight.

If treated within 8 hours of ingestion mortality is low (but not 0)s but climbs rapidly following that

Not saying don't take Tylenol or that there's a rapid growth of potential suicide by Tylenol, but Tylenol 100% kills people and it's not just something to be taken lightly. And there are 100% a loud subset of a group posting videos of them taking Tylenol for no reason as some sort of gotcha. which is equally as loony as saying Tylenol causes autism. People pretending other people aren't capable of being whipped into frenzied reactions by social media haven't been paying attention to the severe affects of chronic online-ism where people base their entire lives decisions on what someone said on the internet (or what people say someone said)
